Brava! Brava! Brava! Outfreakinstanding! LOL It never ceases to amaze me that just when you think if combed the depths of an archive and found all its hidden treasures, one brilliant nugget miraculously surfaces! I'm not sure how I even found this story but one think straight off the bat: if you are not archiving your fics at An Archive of our Own (AO3) as well, PLEASE, please, please consider doing that!
What a gutsy, realistic tale. Thank you so much for using your RL eyewitness experiences/knowledge to craft a great tale that was so inspiring and entertaining within the context of fanfic! I loved this graphic journey you took me on and there was never any sense that this wasn't realistic. This story is dear to my heart. The only thing I would add for your consideration in the way of concrit is this: Most of the time, except for here and there, you did what a lot of authors do when they are writing an intense h/c story between two beloved characters: they write the characters as though they live in a bubble. They do not. They do no live so canon, and they should not in fandom either. I was soo missing the scenes where either Sherlock, desperate and fearful, tells Mycroft that his husband is very ill, or knows all Mycroft comes to Sherlock. What about the scenes where John informs Mrs. Hudson, his friend Lestrade? How do these charcters react to both John and Sherlock together, and individually? Later on, you give us bits and pieces which saved this fic as an A story for me, but maybe...just maybe something I've said will resonate with you and you might be inspired to dust this story off and insert some "missing scenes"! Dang, that would totally rock because this story is without doubt, going to end up being one of my top fav's for 2015!

i love it.
| HedgehogJawn chapter 17 . 6/23/2014
What a wonderful story!
I was immensely grateful for the happy ending, but all the hurt/comfort before it was a joy to read. You were really objective and didn't gloss over the negative aspects of the disease, which was painful in a way but it made the story feel very real. Sherlock's concern for John is adorable and John is such a trooper! Yeah, cancer sucks. The best part about this fic is that you didn't romanticize the disease.
Excellent work! I wish there were more fics like this!
| Guinevere81 chapter 8 . 5/1/2014
This is lovely. Just on a side note though, John has blue eyes not brown.

Well worth the tears
Thank you for sharing

Thank you for this. It was helpful. My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and my brother-in-law is in remission from lymphoma. I don't know why, but this was helpful to me. I guess everything makes sense to me in terms of Sherlock.

I agree cancer sucks, but thanks for a beautiful story about survival. I like how John had real concerns and illness along with the depression. So many stories just glaze over that bit. Well done.

You are so right, the good nurse is one of your most important resources when you are going through something like this. Nothing but kudos to those dedicated medical people who really care about their patients.
| Lisbeth chapter 17 . 9/30/2013
So I made the mistake of trying to read this on my breaks at work... I was a mess all day. Beautiful story. The emotions are so real. Especially hard hitting for me was the scene where Sherlock sees John for the first time after surgery, seeing all the tubes and machines and even the bed make John look so small. I remember having that same thought/reaction when my dad came out of his cancer surgery. Again, simply fantastic. Keep writing.

| Pcp chapter 17 . 6/22/2013
So glad this ended happily. Makes you wonder why they all can't end that way. Cancer really really sucks.
Brilliant writing - just perfectly done.

I'm playing the Mendelssohn concerto (2nd and 3rd movements) in a concert this fall, such a pretty piece! Very soothing first movement, not surprised John fell asleep. .
