REALLY interesting. And UNIQUE. I don't think I've ever seen something like this before on this fandom, and it was really refreshing to read something with such a great concept and executed well also. I liked it a lot! Keep writing!

This was so... just... no, okay wait...
*pulls self together*
This was... phenomenal! Truly amazing. The way it was written, the way you expressed their emotions and the way in which you slowly and so perfectly entrapped the reader into the gracious and incredible lives of Merlin and Arthur and persuaded us to lose ourselves in their love... This was, truly magical, and that was one of the most heartfelt endings possible. You demonstrate so many great emotions and feelings within this story and it just has that... that atmosphere of such potential and promise. It is truly breathtaking and I can't thank you enough for sharing this with us, and I apologise for such a late review. I hope you enjoy this big arse review _
The beginning was actually perfect, never ever had I ever seen such a fantastic first chapter - it was just filled with such character and passion. You set the scene so well - with Merlin: the clumsy, slightly bored with life, needing to find something, needing love, forever waiting and yearning for someone amazing to change his life... he was the perfect dreamy artist. I loved how you introduced the city first, it set the scene for not only the landscape but for just the general atmosphere, and gave the setting a personality. Merlin's excitement at having a new model was certainly grin-worthy, how he hoped for someone younger *maybe his age* XD And I fell in love with how graceful Merlin can be: he may seem clumsy physically, but inside, it amazed me how technical and beautiful he made art... how he longed to paint the contours of a god-like man. And here was such a romantic-comedy moment. The shock of the impact was genius, and it was as if the gods had heard Merlin's prayer... for when he looked up... and saw Arthur... I swear that the whole world froze and Merlin's heart stopped. The way in which he just so instantly felt breathless, unable to think clearly and perform a coherent sentence, how he was just too wrapped up in Arthur's Adonis beauty. Merlin's heart seemed to melt as right before him was the hero he had been waiting for. The way he studied Arthur's eyes, hair, skin and lips... thinking how he had never seen such perfection. I believe it was then, that Merlin's heart was in fact starting to become Arthur's, as if something from ages past had been awakened - and it was hilariously adorable, how Arthur was the strong-headed British gentleman, leaving Merlin weak at the knees.
And what I also loved about this story was how Arthur's character changed, inspired by Merlin's beauty to be a better person. We had a taster of Merlin's personality and dreams, and now, looking at Arthur, I understood what soulmates meant. Here was a man, close to giving up, not knowing, not thinking that he was good enough. Arthur had spent his whole life being put down by authority and put under pressure by his father. Arthur, despite the front, was just as scared as anyother, if not more. He had a title coming up, his father slowly rotting somewhere in England and it seems that all he needed right now was some air... too tired to care that he may be on the other side of the planet. The way he was kind of torturing himself with the whole idea of just running - here was a man more confused and hurt than most.
But what was so beautiful about this story was that when Arthur thought that he had nothing else in this life, Merlin had to brighten his world with poetry in the form of paints. The way in which Merlin was just breathing so heavily once he saw Arthur in their art room was hilarious, just so funny, the way in which, despite his shaking nerves he was able to make a man, who thought he was unloveable and alone... a last bloomer if you will - into something so beautiful, mapped out on the canvas, for all to see and think it was the most stunning picture of all. And when Arthur saw this - I believe that was when his heart reached out for Merlin, however silly and cute he may seem now, after looking at his talents... I believe that Arthur felt at slight sense of belonging, however faint it may be now.
Which brings me to the car drive *hilarious* which was a great insight into Arthur's character. Arthur was defencive and dreaded any pity. Arthur was a wounded man - as he said himself, a son of a Lord running from responsibilty, frightened of seeing his father, terrorifyed of what he might find in those dying eyes, and a hopeless charity case with no career... and for once in the chapter - Arthur's heart was shown, raw and bleeding. And the fact he felt he could only be with Merlin, right now in this emotional state wrenched my heart.
Merlin and Arthur seemed to find it so strangely amazing to find themselves in this position - Merlin offering Arthur sanctuary in his time of need - and despite what he may have thought before, I believe Merlin and Arthur felt something much deeper than mutual understanding. It was the subtle, little things that made their relationship feel so real and divine. The way in which Arthur would study Merlin sometimes, looking at his features, his eyes, ears and mouth... silently cataloging that he quite liked it all. IT WAS SO FLUFFY! How Arthur for whatever reason, found himself falling more and more for Merlin. And the effect of their heart beats would not be missed by the reader... and it then occurred to me that this was strangely similar to a date. Then at the touch, when Merlin slipped... the way in which he felt his heart beat so fast, felt ravishing colours blind his eyes and his whole body make the promise of forever. There was definately a moment and I swear to you that I did feel my heart literally pump in anticipation to see what would happen next. It was just so natural, their talk and banter, how they found out and tried to understand the other's heart and their past... and the atmosphere was just so tender. Everything from then on out felt so sensitive... how Arthur walked into Merlin's flat and found that, despite his prejudice before, he had come to quite like paniters. And the look in Merlin's eyes was... was of shaken love, and how his body couldn't cope with having such a perfect human being within his apartment... how the lingering touch of bleeding blood and unspoken tears from before was weighing upon him now. Their was tension... of some sort... and IT WAS JUST SO GOOD!
Then from the first sentence of the next chapter had me practically drowning in love. About how it only took Merlin three weeks to fall for Arthur, so head over heels in blonde whispers. It was just such a perfect romance. Here is Merlin, being almost close to shut down by others... and yet they don't know the truth, they don't know how truly IN love Merlin is with Arthur. Arthur thinks he's not perfect, but here is someone who is kind, considerate, special - quite literally falling for Arthur and proposing 'Forever Yours' as he trips. So, you can imagine the way in which my heart jumped and leaped at the moment Merlin asked Arthur to dance with him... The atmosphere was so intimate and tender. The way in which Merlin and Arthur both found that... that their hearts were beating at the same time. This was such a whirlwind romance, it hadn't been a month since they met and yet... it felt like they had known each other for an era and a half. Arthur could use someone like Merlin, with all his knows and how he speaks. And Merlin needs to be rescued. It was here that I thought about how they really were two sides of the same coin. And... I just couldn't contain myself when Merlin placed his lips against Arthur, and in that moment, Merlin promised that he would worship Arthur forever. But Arthur didn't break away because he was disgusted - but because he was afraid of having his heart broken. But Merlin would protect him, care for him, worship the ground he stepped upon, more than he realised. The sunshine that was Merlin's heart was always to be Arthur's. And maybe it was a bit rushed, maybe it didn't make sense right now but the moment their lips met again... all things were set aside as Merlin and Arthur melted in what felt so right. The heat and passion of their love was perfectly balanced with the grace, tender and sensibility of the way in which their eyes conveyed feelings so deep. And the result of all these overwhelming emotions was just a cascade of... pure bliss.
Speaking of which, the morning after was so cute and adorable. It was so warm, how they wrapped around each other and felt so safe in their haven of shelter - the way in which they made their own place of affection amoung the folds of fabric and the pillows. Which brings me to say how amazingly sweet their love is also: when Merlin spoke of Arthur having a title - how he was afraid that Arthur would have to leave him with a bleeding heart - the concern and determined fondness, affection and romance within Arthur's eyes as he told Merlin that nothing would change how he felt, how nothing would seperate them... it suddenly got so emotional.
Which brings me to comment about the letter. The atmosphere, from happiness and a completion so sweet felt even more precious as Morgana warned Arthur of betrayal. And what made their love all the more romantic was how Arthur knew that Merlin would never betray him - that they carried each other's hearts within the others. So, you can imagine the way in which I was left breathless about how truly tender and raw their love was shown as Merlin wrapped Arthur in his arms, speaking of how he would go to England with him...
Only to find out that they were in fact the reincarnations of the legendary Merlin and Arthur of the Arthurian Period. Only to find out that their love would in fact last forever and overcome all obstacles: that they would stand for truth, honour, beauty and freedom. The action of their kidnapping was amazing, every moment more magical and more bright than the next, to end with such a romantic ending - so worthy of being a novel, a modern classic.

Beautiful! I loved Gwen attacking Merlin in the airport-if my best friend had up and disappeared like that I would've done the same. *g*

I'm awestruck by your vivid descriptions of the story. It's like watching a movie and everything comes alive. Just WOW.
| zechirator chapter 9 . 2/22/2012
I can't get over how amazing this was, even if it got quite a bit ridiculous at the end. :) Those batman and catwoman suits were a bit much, but otherwise I loved it.
| DuchessofYork chapter 9 . 2/21/2012
oh WOW! you story totally blew me away (you sure YOU don't have 'magic' too?)
and with all that banter, sometimes i wish Arthur and Merlin would just get a room... :P
| TangerineTea chapter 8 . 2/10/2012
Oh wow. Everything happened so fast...The pacing seemed a little rushed in this chapter, almost overwhelming since the imprisonment, revelations of magic (a) existing and (b) belonging to Merlin, past memories, Batman!Gaius and Morgana busting in, the rescue, Gaius and Morgana using /magic/ and apparently remembering their past lives, and Arthur regaining his own memories all happened in one chapter. It might've been better to stretch out the information dump (and all those surprises! Where did the 'past memories' plotline come from?) over a longer period of time. But the chapter itself was very exciting (using physical contact as the conductor for Arthur's memories was a nice touch), and I'm glad the boys are back where they belong. Good job!

I'm justreally happy that Merlin does have magic. I like modern AU's so much more if he's still a sorcerer.
| katcastle chapter 6 . 1/23/2012
