On thing that has caught me flat footed, was that the Akatsuki only went into a frenzy in three years.
| J.E.P 1996 chapter 5 . 1/29/2013
Why is there no periods at the end of the dialogue?

| peregrine829 chapter 10 . 10/8/2012
I love this story. One correction though: Naruto is a master distiller, not a master brewer. Beer is brewed. Liquor (which is what I gather Naruto produces) is, by definition, distilled.

| Samuez chapter 10 . 7/11/2012
Totally different than anything I've read.
It's quite difficult to see why it's M rated as during the first 93k words, there's only one or two implied sexual references and maybe a few curses here and there. Unless it'll get more intense, it should be good with a T rating instead.
They are some issues with what's happening. I meant, this last few paragraph when you ban the 'two' ANBU, except for some reason Naruto had a sudden change of mind and ban just one while skipping out any references to the other one. I know he implied that the other was 'excuse' but why did the first ANBU made references to the other one when there's nothing to imply that Naruto wasn't going to ban the 2nd? It's very strange reading that paragraph or so.
Of course, there's some issue with missing words, grammar and etc but it's not so bad that I couldn't skim over them.
As for the pacifist Naruto, I find it strange that the citizen would forgive and forget about Naruto. And the concept of pacifist Naruto with no training in this world is mind blowing. Not in a good nor bad way, just very different and difficult to conceived.
Though I'm very indifferent to the mature and totally OOC of Naruto due to this being a AU, it's sorta hard to like him as a character for me. But that's just mainly because of how anal morally he is. There's a few thing that I find disturbing about his morality, but I can't really seem to find the mind to write it down at this time. But let's just say that I had a hard time liking Naruto near the end of this story for that reason.
However, I'll favorite and keep reading just for the variety in this story. I kinda wish there's a pairing, though. All of those ladies and not even implied closure? Sorta sketchy in my eye, haha.

Fan-freaking-tastic. I love the story, but . . . well, Naruto seems kinda harsh doesn't he? Not that i don't like him! Naruto is badass, as you made him. So, please keep on with the story!
| Polar Pig chapter 10 . 6/30/2012
I really enjoy reading this story. I had just read from chapter one to ten today and I was totally hooked to this version of Naruto; he's clever, still very stubborn, and honest. Those traits are certainly what Naruto has but they're more...well-used(?) in a positive light. I feel like all his troubles are in the palm of his hand but at the same time, he takes them seriously so he doesn't end up regreting the consequences. This mature Naruto is definitely unique, especially since he loses his canon dream to pursue a different life that runs the opposite way. I like it! :) I've never heard of a civilian Naruto in any story but AUs.
As for the plot, it's never boring, and I am content with his somewhat laid-back lifestyle as a bartender; also he gains an advantage as a(n) informant/advisor/civilian-defender. Naruto is not god-like in strength nor knowledge, but his way of life shaped him into a better person as a moral supporter. I like how despite him being in the shadows of Konoha he is still able to help Haku, Gaara, and other shinobi with their problems. The plot hardly changes but it's given more depth as a "civy" than from a military perspective.
Great writing and I can't wait to read the next chapter when it comes out!

Still very entertaining to read. The only other complaint I've had in the story, is basically when you try to alter character development deliberately. I'm perfectly fine with Tenten getting hints about training more defensively. But it would be nice to see this done in a more subtle manner. Hell maybe interaction with Naruto had even changed her enough to already know this stuff. My point is basically that when things are said like "What if you fight a suna wind user in those Chunin Exams", the first thing that comes to my mind is "Well good to know the author knows the canon". It doesn't detract much from the story overall, just kinda feels cheesy.

I rather like this so far, just some parts are kinda thrown in with little development. It's kinda random to just have him say "Oh hey come to Konoha". After all if he is just the "civilian" your playing him out to be, I doubt he has the clout to just get a foreigner immediately into the country.
