![]() ![]() ![]() Where was Luke during any of this? He feels conspicuously absent from this story. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Does anyone know how to get An Oragmi Fish's attention? I want to know more about the Star Wars Universe that An Orgami Fish created but when I tried to PM there has been no response for more than a Month now I think. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Much as I would like to read this, the knowledge that you still put Jaina with Jag prevents me from doing so. I still despise that pairing, even after all this time. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I know that it's highly unlikely that you will ever respond to this review, Origami Fish, but what exactly was a poor tactical decision with the prison escape at the beginning of The Unifying Force? |
![]() ![]() ![]() what happened to the other stories against the killiks? they where quality. I don't. remember the epilogue with cade being in either. im so confused. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hi there, Firstly thanks for posting your work, I enjoyed it as much as the other 4 times I've read it. Still one of the best AS stories on this site. its a true crime how little it is recognised but im as much to blame being an infrequent reviewer |
![]() ![]() Well, that was an awesome story. Aside from a few minor details, pretty much all of the characters acted in a believable matter. Tahiri saved Anakin in a pretty believable way, their interactions in the coming chapters as they worked through their insecurities are pretty believable too. I liked the fact that they were best friends before all else, and every other aspect of their relationship was a complement, rather than a replacement, of that: after Anakin comes back, the first thing she chews him out for is not for cheating on him, but for leaving her behind when as best friends they should be facing everything together. And after their night after Ebaq 9, it was said "even after the intimate night they had shared, there was nothing in the galaxy like waking up to the warmth and comfort of your childhood best friend, knowing that you were loved and supported. That you had a place you belonged." I also like the whole arc with the Freed Ones and Tahiri coming out on her own, no longer being merely Anakin's sidekick. I also really like the development of the side-characters, Alema Rar in particular. She seems like someone who is really teetering on the edge of the dark side, more so than Anakin, and for believable reasons. And I'm pretty sure that the Old Jedi Order would have treated her with suspicion and urged her to let go of her dead sister. But that would have been completely tone-deaf, and I think Anakin's and Tahiri's acceptance of her was for the best. One gripe that I have though, is with the finale/epilogue. I know that previously, you had a whole rewrite of the post-NJO EU going, which I think was awesome. I know that you deleted all of your post-NJO stuff last year. On some level, it's sad to see all those stories, all that worldbuilding go. On the other hand, you may have had a good reason to do this. Like, maybe you ran out of fuel to finish up your pics, so you just cut down your stories to just the most important ones and left a summary epilogue to sum up the rest. And to an extent that makes sense. J.R.R. Tolkien, for instance, refrained from going into extensive detail about certain points in the lore, like what the One Ring actually does, because keeping it mysterious is sometimes better than any explanation. And Tolkien is often right. I see that with Darth Caedus, for instance: people who learn about him from YouTube videos that summarize the EU books often see him as an awesome villain with a believable reason to fall, while those who read all of the source material often say that he's seriously out of character with Jacen Solo. The YouTube summaries leave a mystery where the books leave a hamfisted explanation, and the former is better. So the idea of just wrapping up A Destiny Altered with an epilogue that summarizes what went on afterwards, has a showdown with Abeloth, and leaves our golden couple with a happy ending is a good idea and is pretty consistent with the tone of Chapter 68. But, I feel like the material that's supposed to catch us up on what happened was quite rushed. Like, we're given vague mentions of the Swarm War and the war with the One Sith, then we're in the final showdown with Abeloth. So, we don't have the contextual knowledge to understand our heroes, their situations, or what's going on in the galaxy. So I get confused: is Caedus a fully evil maniac now, who's only fighting alongside his family due to a common enemy? Or is he more of a "good Sith"? is Anakin a Sith in all but name, or is he more like Luke Skywalker at the beginning of Fate of the Jedi, who was exiled on completely trumped-up charges by a blatantly anti-Jedi Chief of State? How much influence does the new Sith Empire now have? These kinds of details can make or break an ending. So, it would have been a good idea to have one sentence summaries of key details. Like: That Anakin became head of the GAG at the end of the Swarm War story and that Jacen becomes a political figure, with the latter serving as the conscience for the cold and calculating former. How Krayt's Sith launched a sudden, devastating attack on all the major Force-sensitive orders in his way and slaughtered many of the most important officials of the Galactic Alliance on the capital planet itself. How Jacen Solo turned dark in order to stop the Sith attack from within. Why did the two sides make peace, and what was the direct aftermath of the peace (besides Anakin's exile)? Also, in the alternate future, it would be good to know how Abeloth got killed and an immediate aftermath that eventually leads to galactic peace (even if we only get a brief summary of how), just for closure's sake. Even Tolkien, who keeps much of his lore a mystery, makes sure to have at least one sentence summaries of the major events between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and after the War of the Ring. Like how the Dwarves of Erebor and the Men of Dale built proper civilizations again. Like how the War of the Ring went on in Mirkwood and Dale. Like the fact that Aragorn decreed that the Shire has sovereignty and no human is to enter it. That Legolas and Gimli went to the Undying Lands That all the "good guy" factions in the War of the Ring regain all the territory they had lost to their adversaries. That Aragorn dies at age 210 and Arwen dies shortly after. Many of these details are brief, like bullet points on a timeline, but they still help give closure to the story, and it would be great if you could do that kind of thing here. |
![]() ![]() ![]() hey, tried PMing you for your complete trilogy, maybe this will actually be seen? if I could get that I would appreciate it |
![]() ![]() Three years ago, I was so dissatisfied in the new movies, that I read every legends book and comic on the amazon web store within three months... until I got to Star By Star. Anakin solo was my favourite character. To see him killed off in nothing more than a side novel was crushing, and it infuriated me to no end. Yours was the first FanFiction I read, And It was a Masterpiece. I know of your pain in losing a sibling. While mine is alive and well, the dog I spent my childhood playing with died a painful death. he was almost completely paralysed, and conscious till the last breath. While it may not have been nearly as horrible as what you went through, it was still heartbreaking to see the most aggressive living being I ever had the pleasure of meeting whimpering as he lay dying. Your works were a masterpiece and an experience to read, and I hope your brother finds peace where ever he may be. Your Sincere Admirer, Vinayak Kothari. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Come to think of it, if memory serves, Ch. 67 was the chapter you were on when I first started reading your work. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wait… but I don’t understand why you took down so many of the completed fics. Still, I would like to get the whole collection if possible. At least the Swarm War, Caught Between Destiny And Fate, and the oneshots. Maybe not the One Sith arc because it… you know, triggered me. Thank you for all these years of making Star Wars as the adventure it as always meant to be _ I do have to say though, ADA was always the best of the stories. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I've been reading your fanfics for over the past two years while I was still active on this website until I lost the passion to continue writing Fanfiction due to personal issues and I was always envious of the fact that I could never write in such detail as you have (trust me, if you read my #1 Fanfic, it's not that impressive). From then on, I'd actually read your post-ADA stories as a guest just because I gave a damn about how you were telling the stories of Anakin, Jacen, Jaina, Ben, Zekk and numerous others I wasn't initially attached to. TBH, I didn't even like much of the post-NJO stories since Anakin Solo died (save for maybe LOTF and FOTJ, but Star Wars Legacy is dope as fuck). I'm very sorry that I never left you a review of any of your stories up until this point. I would've loved to still read the post-ADA stories like your Swarm War story, the Ben and Vestara-centered stories, and the FOTJ-version stories you wrote had you left it up. However, you did what you felt was best for yourself and that's OK. Still, it feels bittersweet that this is the actual end of your run on since I think you're one of the best authors I've had the pleasure of reading whenever you gave an update. That being said, I'm sorry for the loss of your brother. I can't imagine the pain and loss you and your family are feeling right now. I just saw the synopsis for your new or "temporary" tribute story about the whole thing. FWIW, I think it's a beautiful tribute to him. Thank you for your years of writing SW fanfics and many condolences to your family during this time. - Tom The Author. |
![]() ![]() It has been a ride. While it is always sad to see a good fic end it is the nature of these things. You gave us more than most. Thank you for keeping legends alive at least for a short time. May the force be with you ... always. |
![]() ![]() ***struggling to hold back tears*** While reading this, I felt a mix of nostalgia, excitement, confusion, and heartbreak. I've been reading this story since I was 15 and it's bittersweet to see it finally come to an end. I rather like what you did with all the different orders of Force users and their different esoteric abilities. Ah...I see. Of course, all our faves die sacrificing themselves to imprison Abeloth. Ouch. I liked the way Anakin and Tahiri's goodbye paralleled the events of SbS. May I ask: what happened to Jag? Jaina died helping save the galaxy; what had happened to him earlier? And what is the name of Jacen and Tenel Ka's second child? The adventures of Cade and Co. were quite fun to read, if very, very grim. Is it a little bad that I'm almost glad I won't have to read about what the galaxy would have been like under Abeloth? That would have been almost TOO depressing to read! Also...I'm a tad confused on what Cade did. Did he take the Dagger back through time to Anakin and Tahiri so they could kill Abeloth with it in their time? Or did he kill Abeloth himself in his time and then that messed with the past timeline because he was in the World Between Worlds? Nice ending...very fitting. It's really sweet that our 'golden couple' still got their happy ending...or at least a version of them did. I'm a wee bit confused on all the time traveling stuff. Would it be possible for me to get a 'family tree' of the Solo-Skywalker clan? There are so many Fels, Solos, and Djos to keep track of! It struck me as really interesting that Alema and Luke Solo ended up on 'opposite sides' of the Force. If you don't have an official family tree...I would love to collab with you to make one! I'm kind of a genealogy nerd so that stuff would be right up my alley. All that said, I want to again extend my most sincere thanks for writing this fantastic, fantastic story. It will ALWAYS be very, very near and dear to my heart. Thank you again and again. ***breaks down sobbing*** 'Til next time, Sabre |
![]() ![]() ![]() Whoa...interesting ending. Stealing the last segment from Rey, I see. Not that I'm complaining...it was a fitting ending there, and is here. Can I say it's a bit weird that Cade alters their destiny, and not Caedus? You freak us 'originals' for about 3/4 of the story as we try to decide when/where Jacen turns all 'sithy', and then just kind of cover it in the finale! Any chance I could get a copy of the story with Jacen/Nelani going to the Bimmiel system? That still remains my favorite. I'm still open to any collaborating if you feel the need to 'split the load'! ;-) It's fantastic to see that this story is still garnering views after 9 years...and I feel honored to have been a part of it for almost the entire ride. Thanks for all of this. |
