Reviews for Saruman of many Devices |

![]() ![]() ![]() Boromir regarding villainous dwarves is inconsistent with lore from The Hobbit. Perhaps he means "aligned with Sauron", but you don't have to be aligned with Sauron to be a villain. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Regarding why Enedwaith is unpopulated, Appendix B of RoK says that it was "devastate[d]" by "great floods" in TA 2912 (about three decades before the beginning of the events of The Hobbit). As for why the Rohirrim didn't move into it, the floods, the lack of high ground in that area on the Shelly Shapiro map, and its position between the mouths of two major rivers suggest it is a low floodplain which, even if not actually swampy (as could have resulted from major flooding altering the channels of the rivers), is unlikely to be suitable for Rohirrim who are accustomed to living in much higher and drier land. |
![]() ![]() ![]() It’s too bad this story seems to have died |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is so against everything Tolkien believed in it's not even funny. ...Should prove a fascinating read. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow, that was interesting |
![]() ![]() ![]() An interesting concept, but the rate of technological development here is absurd - Saruman is skipping over five centuries of iterative improvements, without a drop of magic? It's getting really difficult to suspend my disbelief, here. Those centuries may seem to lack much improvement, but the small changes built up to enable bigger ones. Really, anything up to about Napoleonic War technology I could buy, though even that would likely require a little subtle crafting magic in the background, but at tis point Saruman might as well teach his minions sorcery. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I command this fic to rise from the dead! |
![]() ![]() ![]() the amount of gun instruction in this story really is over the top, i think every new group of ppl that was introduced to guns got one. ofc this is needed but it just doesnt need to be written more then once |
![]() ![]() ![]() 835% im guessing you are trying to say with a 5% margin but in math thd notation of a slash means devide, in other words: 83% devided by -5%(negative 5) or perhaps you meant is aswhich means 'plus minous', or 'more or less' |
![]() ![]() ![]() lol i just realized something, in the war of the five armies the dwarves use chariots that shoot bolts faster then anything saruman has made. ofc those things are likely impossible to make, much like the swirlywirlys |
![]() ![]() ![]() kinda stupid they didnt construct a telegram line next to the railroad, that is seriously primitive communication tech. dont see the need for a station every 12km either though |
![]() ![]() ![]() yeah this is one of those thing that always pissed me off in canon to. the enemy has sorcerers aplenty but the 'good' guys have to do with some elven made gifts and nerfed maia. not the nummorians though, they mastered magic well enough, which naturally means by now everyone has forgotten how. how does that make sense? its a good thing they all but left this out of the movies |
![]() ![]() ![]() feels like the orcs reverse engineered that gun a little to quick |
![]() ![]() ![]() werewolves were created by sauron not morgoth. |
![]() ![]() ![]() the easterlings of the rhun have greater metal works then dale, allies of the dwarves? how does this sound logical? |
