| Squirrelloid chapter 11 . 3/2
As much as I like the technical geekness, which is definitely glorious, Less Wrong has a point. The shock value of Saruman's new firepower has been immense, but its time for Sauron to reveal a countermeasure.
Rather than a mutual tech arms race, I might suggest more magical countermeasures. The secondary material contains a number of Dark Numenorians skilled in 'sorcery', and you can really run with that however you want. Of course, the necessary training for a sorceror vastly exceeds that for a rifleman, but deploying sorcery en masse and offensively could surprise and upset a few battles before the supply differential takes its toll. (And it would buy Mordor breathing room to develop industrial answers and opportunities to capture weapons).

I'm still mostly intolerant of guns in fantasy, but...
I. LOVE. THIS.
You appeal to my greatest joy in fanfiction with this: Making what was bad better.
| Vermin-lord chapter 11 . 2/27
Glad to see this again, I like the little bit of interaction with frodo and the werewolf at the end. Hope to see more soon
| vincent1875 chapter 11 . 2/27
Good chapter. Things seem to be coming together nicely.
| WarmasterSamiel chapter 11 . 2/27
great chapter. Was nice to see the allied commanders plan together, a strong scene.
Stalingrad would certainly convince and scare them into avoiding large fights in cities.
how goes the diplomacy towards the west? Isengard has made some friends in hte villages west of the misty mountains, will they try to bring them into the fold? At the very least faster communications should bring them closer each other and help trade.
| Tork01 chapter 11 . 2/27
My friend the werewolf... Frodo will have some interesting stories to tell back at the Shire.
Anyway, sending forces to Umbar is a major diversion. If Mordor has a weak point, it is in the farms of Nurn. All those orcs need food. The logistics of a gunpowder army require good lines of communication.

Apology accepted. I was glad to see more of this story in my inbox and can't wait to see where it goes.

I would like it if there was more Central and Saruman scenes, those are my favourites!
| Oh I am Slain chapter 11 . 2/27
A bit busy for, just wanted to comment that I thoroughly enjoy this story. It's a pity that many people might not notice this story, just because of its rarer category. I'm pretty sure any analytically-minded LOTR reader would enjoy this story, not to mention the many others who only know enough LOTR to get by. Cheers!
