You wouldn't expect dinosaurs to be poetical, but Tennyson's heavy Victorian metre is just the thing!

I would in no way, shape, or form take up your challenge - couldn't write poetry to save my life - but I enjoyed reading yours.
I think you've nailed the style. It sounds pretty and flows lyrically...which are odd descriptives when speaking about dinosaurs, but that kind of just proves it's good writing.
