| lebells1 chapter 3 . 12/10/2011
To have his loved ones treated inhumanely, his wife raped, murdered in blood... that's not something anyone can ever forget, and forgive. War is a terrible suffering (pro- world peace), and I see why he reacted so immensely to anyone of the Union, even if Edward was once his close friend.
What Jasper had done- by allowing Edward to stay- is something which is more than what he can do, without being reminded of his past traumas, battle scars, and the inconsolable pain of losing someone who's life, and everything to him. :(
| Have faith chapter 3 . 12/10/2011
God this is such great vivid writing. Its different from Gone With the Wind and the movie North and South, but still has the same grit. Awesome!
| manda2784 chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
This is a great story! I can't wait to read more.
| Julia-S77 chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
what a horrendous thing for Jasper to have to live through and for poor Bella finding them.
it must be awful to have to hate your neighbours and people who were your friends. Bella obviously still likes Edward too, I wonder why they will manage to be together
great chapter, loved it xx
| cejsmom chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
We're the Yankers put in charge of the south after the war? That is something I have never thought of before. Makes sense I guess.
Bella keeps getting braver and braver. Edward more and more endearing and Jasper, I hope he meets Alice soon cuz he needs to heal. How does one heal from that memory though?
| Princess Mishawaka chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
Jasper is really in a soldiers world of being so shell shocked he can't believe in reality any more. It must have been much worse than it is today with the soldiers coming back from Afganistan. When you fight hand to hand combat and look at your enemy right in the eye when you kill or maime him.
The civil war was the worse for casualities from books and movies I have seen it was a blood bath. Also the aftermath which is what Bella is living through now was horrible especially in the South.
| dreampills chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
how shitty. i think anyone with a heart can understand jasper's reasoning for being weary.
| Totteacher chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
Poor Jasper, but he cannot let the actions of one color his view of everyone else.
| Pyejammies chapter 2 . 12/9/2011
I love the vision of the planation party. I can really picture Jasper standing with his hands behind his back while the ladies bat their eyelashes at him. Then again when Edward falls on his behind in front of Bella. Bella really doesn't fit in with the Southern Belles.
| FFpassion chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
That was so so sad, poor Peter to have witness such a horrible scene. I can't imagine the nightmares he must have.
And poor Jasper, how can he anything but bitter?
I'm loving the story, you had me fooled, I thought Bella was married and that Peter was her little boy :)
Looking forward to reading more.
| LibraryLady08 chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
At least there's an explanation for his behavior.
| shaz308 chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
War is such an evil soul destroying time. Hope Jasper can come back from the abyss. Look forward to your next update, thanks.
| Cullen Cousin chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
Poor, poor Jazz...I can understand why he feels the way he does. I would to if I were put in that kind of situation. It's enough to break your heart.
| tigger5600 chapter 3 . 12/9/2011
