Reviews for The Pureblood Pretense |

![]() ![]() Hahahahahahaha! Love the Weasley twins, and The Look. Hehehe |
![]() ![]() Fantastic series! I actually started with the second book first, not realizing it was part of a series, and was absolutely spellbound! Great looking forward to the original work you mentioned your in the process of in your later fics. Also, "tapestry of Salazar Slytherin's familiar, a foot-long baby basilisk which didn't move like the other paintings. Rigel took a fleeting moment to hope that was because the painting hadn't been treated in the right glaze, not because the basilisk was still alive." The poor basilisk! And what a forboding moment of foreshadowing. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Wow! This is amazing! I power read it in 24 hours! I love the depth of the characters and the inner turmoil that they face. I look forward to reading the second one. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for the story, it was great, and i really liked reading something else than a rebrand of the plot in the books. |
![]() ![]() AMAZINGLY UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME~! |
![]() ![]() Awesome |
![]() ![]() This book is so cool in the way that it delves into the mental magical aspects, it's totally unlike anything I've ever read before! |
![]() ![]() There are so many tiny details I am seeing now, as if for the first time. The Ambiguous Artifice potions-eating comment, Draco's anti-gravity eyes, the basilisk's still portrait, etc... |
![]() ![]() I'm reading this again. I'm so happy! |
![]() ![]() The length is perfectly OK! It's great! Keep on going with this good work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Ok, wow, I'm, well, kicking myself for not reading this fic sooner. This may be a lengthy review. Alright, first off, you've convinced my to give Alanna the Lioness a read if that's what gave you this idea. Onto, what I liked about the story...pretty much almost everything, you've given more character to the Slytherin House than the actual books gave to Gryffindor. The interactions were great, and I loved Draco and Pansy throughout the fic (Coincidentally, this is also the first Slytherin fic I've read that didn't make Daphne Greengrass the sole redeeming factor of the entire house). Moving on to the main character, at first, I was a bit leery of the thought of an apathetic Harriet but you've managed to handle her personality splendidly, she's just the right mix of not caring outside her little circle, as well as still being a kind person. The fact that she has flaws and makes mistakes also adds to the perception of her as a real character. All the readers knowing that the façade Archie and her are creating will inevitably crumble down adds to the suspense as well. Moving onto another thing I loved about the fic, the world building. The fact that the war didn't happen, Hogwarts being mostly made up of Pureblood students, Hermione thus, attending another school, and what I personally liked the most, the magic, and the exploration of the concepts that are in, said magic. Also, a Harry who's focused, just on potions, to the point where it becomes a disadvantage to her, definitely the first time I've seen such a thing. Rigel Black felt more real to me than Harry Potter did in some of the books. I'd love to theorize about what comes next, but I've probably gone on long enough...yeah maybe a bit too much, sorry for rambling. Thank you for the great read, it helped sustain me through a week of back to back Class Presentations and Tests. Hope you have a great day. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go read 'The Serpentine Subterfuge'. |
