| Barry Waterfield chapter 1 . 12/5/2012
Like the writer, I too prefer Dickens original ending and this little poem adds some thoughtful verse. One thing I have never been able to understand in the original ending is Estella's line '' I thought you would like to shake hands with Estella too Pip''. She goes on to say ''Lift up that pretty child so I may kiss it'' By the use of the ''too'' in context here, one is left wondering whether Pip had been shaking unnamed hands prior to meeting his femme fatale of former years..Anyway, that aside, this is a nice worthy little refection that may or may not reveal a gentler side to Estella without compromising the storyline as subsequent endings have indeed been guilty of.
