Well done. I've always thought, though, that Harry could have occluded against Voldy, since Harry was a horcrux ... Voldy was already behind any "shielding" Harry might use to protect his mind.

Personally, I don't think that Harry not learning occlumency was entirely Snape's fault. Granted, Snape had a tendency to be impatient with him, but that is in character with everything else he tried to teach namely he had a tendency to expect students to grasp difficult concepts which came easily to him, and lost patience with them when they failed to do so. I think that Harry was also somewhat at fault in that he didn't seem to take the lessons seriously, although the blame for that can be placed with Dumbledore since he did a poor job of explaining to Harry why he needed to learn the occlumency, and what could happen if he failed.
