| Sunshine Through The Storm chapter 21 . 3/12/2012
This was such an interesting story, and I'm glad to have let it distract me from coursework :) I liked Irene in this, but that's probably because she's so different. I loved the mention of Neil and David with their cookie bouquet waay back when they came out, mainly because I can imagine Neil sending that label "We really do have cookies". This has been such a lovely journey, and I'm glad you took me along for the ride.

Simply amazing. Holy crap. SUCH a well told story. So much depth and character. You've got it all down. And Toronto! woot! It reads like it really happened. So well detailed and filled with such emotion and reality. Some of your lines affected me so much, the mark of a great writer. Loved all the Hollywood details to fill it out, fantastic work. Recommending it to all who will listen and reading your other works (of course) Thanks for this and "Alone on the Water" (the ones I've read so far) you're a gift to the fandom.

Just read all the chapters.
| Justine Lark chapter 6 . 3/11/2012
What, we didn't get to see them shoot the sex scene?
I liked their awkward night before the brief separation and the wordless conversation before parting was brilliant.
| Justine Lark chapter 5 . 3/11/2012
"preordained series of eyeblinks"- that is hilarious. I literally laughed out loud.
Their discussion is pure gold. I hate That acor talk of "grow my character's sorrow" but I believe John a you've developed him woud talk like that. It's good that they've established trust so John can confront him like this.
"a vibe of humble receptiveness"- you have an entertaining way with words!
I visited Toronto for the first time in October 2011 and I thought it was a lovely city. We want to go back and stay longer.
I like how you referenced the Carl Powers case as the point where two roads diverged. Very clever.
| Justine Lark chapter 4 . 3/11/2012
"equally bored by both genders" "big sparkly hearts where her eyes ought to be"-LOL!
I enjoyed Sherlock's comments about his process & his own appearance. It all feels very authentic. I personally am a very poor actor and I don't understand how they do it. But I love being the center of attention, so I became a university professor. I perform 2 or 3 times a week, I improvise my own lines and then I get to evaluate my audience on their comprehension. Best job in the world!
| Justine Lark chapter 3 . 3/11/2012
Cool chapter. So John is a lot more interesting than Sherlock thought. It's an interesting contrast to the show, in which of of course they had not heard of each other before meeting.

Pickle popcorn sounds revolting!
As a longtime subscriber to Entertainment Weekly I'm pleased to understand most of the shop talk but I appreciate the crib sheet just to check!

In the fandom I wrote for & of course read extensively in, people did this all the time, put the characters in different professions, locations, time periods (well I guess the BBC already covered that angle), but this is the first Sherlock story I've seen where they aren't a detective and doctor in London. So congratulations on being different and interesting!

I;ve only just made it to chapter 6 and I already think its the most amazing story I've ever read. I don't even need to finish it to know. Have you thought about publishing as an e-book? You should have a think about it- convert it to an original story (which in this case means, just change their names) and go with it. Publishing as an ebook is way easier than traditional, as the publishing house does not have much to lose on a virtual product- it's the paperbacks that cost! But yeh, I'd buy it if you did.
| Sentiment for Lost Creatures chapter 21 . 3/11/2012
After a good 28 hours , with my family thinking I’ve gone AWOL, I finally finished, what I can only express to be one of THE best stories I’ve read. I have obviously watched, and every much loved the show (I cried like a baby over many, many episodes), but I am, however, new to the fiction of this particular fandom. With this in mind, I do feel that you have successfully managed to ruin all future Sherlock based fanfiction for me, with your beautifully, perfect story. I fear that I will not find a story even remotely close to the standard of this. I almost hope I don’t, because this really is breathtaking.
You took the two characters and crafted a perfectly believable world for them to live in. Your characterisation had me gripped from the start, all the way to the very end. Their own personal quirks and insecurities, the strength and power each of them held within, and the romance that blossomed before me as I read each word carefully. I could not stop reading, I was so utterly engrossed, and drawn in by their lives, I wanted to be a part of their world. I wanted to feel what they were feeling, understand every little moment of their struggle, experience the overwhelming love and admiration each felt for the other.
What I particularly love about this story, is that you didn’t go overboard with the dramatic storyline. I know many authors would have added extra storylines in that would have John and Sherlock facing even more turmoil than necessary. They would have had Moriarty swoop in and try and split the couple up, or the pressure from the press, or the secrets becoming too much and ultimately breaking them up. But you didn’t. You played to the strengths of your story: their love. You didn’t need to stoop to pointless storylines to keep things going. And I admire that in your storytelling.
I really, really do adore this story and your writing. You had me laughing, crying, a whole array of emotions that most fanfiction doesn’t evoke in me. I will definitely be looking out for more of your writing!
p.s. I honestly do not think I have written a review this long, ever! That’s how much I love this!
| bump-in-the-night1990 chapter 9 . 3/10/2012
god, i'm loving this story so hard right now. I love the meta of it (like how their relationship partially mirrored the relationship in their movie). This is so good. I'm trying to not devour it all in a few days because I want to savor the amazingness.
| bump-in-the-night1990 chapter 1 . 3/9/2012
Just read chapter one. Must read more. Amazing story and writing so far!
| reticento chapter 21 . 3/9/2012
I've just read this story through for the second time and it's still simply excellent. Actually, it's even better than I thought first time around. It took over my life yet again, even though I knew what was going to happen!
This time, rather than being caught up purely in the story and rushing to find what happens next, I found myself appreciating the skill that went into this. The writing is superb! You have the voices of the two characters down! Sherlock, especially, is so well written. The snippets from articles, interviews and forums to show what's happening in the media is pure genius and so well done! How you added in recognisable people from the industry was surprisngly seamless and natural. I had expected it to ring false or to feel a bit crowbarred in but on this point, as with many more of my preconceptions before starting this fic, I stand corrected.
I'm also going to include your beta, Britpicker and sounding-boards in my praise here because anyone who helped you bring this to fruition is deserving of recognition for their part. Given that you are American, I was impressed by how natural the British voices sounded (though I should probably mention I'm actually Irish so this is based on living in the UK and marrying a Yorkshireman rather than having grown up with it). I don't think there was a single jarring note in the entire story.
I'm generally not one for AU as I feel so many don't quite translate, but you have managed it. They are both still clearly the characters that we already know and love. I am deeply impressed by this work and beyond grateful that you put in the effort to write it and then share it with us. I cannot wait for the next installment!
