| x-MJ-x chapter 1 . 2/7/2012
Well I just finished reading through these. I have never read anything like this before, I tihnk it's a brilliant idea not least because you can address so many aspects of their relationship.
I love what you did here, I think you really got inside of both of their heads in a way which the writers haven't. You know that like you I see the Emily/ Ian potential - though I have to be slightly more quiet in my support. So you can imagine my glee when I get to read fifty delicious morsels of shamless Dentiss...
It was wonderful because what you didn't do which I imagine it would totally tempting to do with a fic like this, was present one side of the relationship so either love or hate. To me, what you did was almalgamated both feelings and showed how in their relationship they work as one.
I also like how this wasn't simply one sided perspective wise, it wasn't all Ian or all Emily but we got a sense of them both, they both had a sense of autonomy in this and there was a real sense of their dual voices moving towards a common understanding that neither one can function without the other. I think what you achieved here was a real sense of the intensity of their relationship. There is the strong suggestion here that it surpasses normal emotions and is bulit on something far stronger, more intense.
You know, as I was going through I was trying to pick my favourite sentence, I thought it would be easy but they are ALL just dripping with deliciousness and it was impossible to choose just ONE...
I just love how even the negative sentences seem the strength and power of their feelings, this is truly an incredible concept...
I think that the saddest sentence in this whole thing has to be number 40 "Despite everything he knew of her guilt, he would acquit her of anything if only she looked at him like she still loved him"...
I literally had tears in my eyes at that and trust me, I never lie in reviews. I think it caught me because it was so utterly poignant. I don't know if it was the acting or just your interpretation but it hit me somewhere deep because it resonanted not only in the way that Ian was thinking but also in the way that Emily clearly feels about him... Like she could forgive him his sins if only he would tell her he loved her... Ugh... this is gorgeous... GORGEOUS!
Why did it have to be just 50 sentences, I'm sure that with your eloquence and style, you could have continued this forever and I for one would never have gotten tired of reading them. Each was is different, unique and special and yet they all feed into the larger network of images which leave a lasting impression of this relationship...
Mmmm I hope that you write more like this, because this style really suits you and allows you to show us all why Dentiss is exquisitely perfect...
I absolutely loved this and I am finding a real affinity with your written style which I don't find all that often. I can see your spin on it and yet I feel like you understand the psychologies of these characters and I thank you for sharing it with us.
I'm going to set about reading the rest of these tomorrow, but you should know that these are amazing and I love them.
Love Michelle x

#05 - Potatoes
He seemed so larger than life when she first met him, until they had their first meal together and she watched him inhale a plate of potatoes; he was Irish, all right.
By far my favourite sentence.
I really liked the way you've done this, there's just something about it that makes it amazing.
Just out of curiosity, was the challence only the one sentence thing or did it include these specific prompts?
