I really liked this story and the way you wrote it and the two things that stood out to me the most are the characters and the plot. You’ve done a good job developing the characters and the plot is so original.

The characters are real, well developed, and believable. They have their own motivations, and they’re not just satellite characters there to just help Harry and Luna progress. The Ron and lavender subplot was great and it’s really refreshing to see some development for Ron. Plus everyone’s just so dang NICE to each other, it’s great! I also liked that Harry and luna’s relationship is mutually supportive. It happens a lot in stories that Harry’s s/o is only supportive of him and that’s it. But here, they both clearly support each other and it’s great. You’ve even provided an underlying logic for UMBRIDGE and in your story she’s not evil to be evil, she’s evil to accomplish goals. You expanded further on how umbridge might respond to different threats and the latest threats she’s made are quite clever.

The plot is super original. I’ve never read anything that diverges from the common tropes like this has and I like how you’re taking this. You’re doing a good job balancing the crew’s response to umbridge and umbridges power; they clearly respond to umbridges power plays and, crucially, they do make some changes but she still retains the power. It’s leading up to a climax clearly. I really hope you come back to this because it’s like nothing else I’ve ever read before. Thank you :)

I unfortunately can't foresee a comeuppance that would in any way be satisfying against the sheer amount of abuse Harry/Luna have taken.

It'd be poetic justice to just leave the country, though not realistic.

This and it's prologue story are very fun. If you ever pick it up again I'll be happy to read more.

I cannot explain in words just how much pure joy this story has given me. In my first read through (and yes I have read it through multiple times after that first read through) I was grinning so much I gave myself a headache from smiling.

The characterisations are just perfect. As others have said, this is the most sweetest and loveliest version of Luna Lovegood I have read so far, and I know I will find it hard to have it beaten. She maintains her unique personality and interesting viewpoints on the Wizarding world, as well as the things that make her so quintessentially Luna, while gaining the humanity of a 14 year old girl. She is not overly Loony, neither is she some kind of super magical Seer, but she manages to maintain elements of that in a compassionate and well thought out manner. All the other characters are spot on too, to the point that I can see them saying the things that are written in the way they speak.

The plot itself is well thought out, and I love that while it continues to follow the canonical path of the source, it provides unique differences that sprout out in a butterfly effect like manner from the original kiss under the mistletoe. I can see the multiple threads weaving their way through the words on page promising more twists and turns in the future, and I can really feel how the love that blossoms between the central pair strengthens both characters, and in turn pulls the story in a different direction surrounding acceptance, connection and how love overcomes the obstacles they face, which is a central ethos of the original Harry Potter story.

It is a rare occurrence indeed that I leave any such review, and so I'm sure you can understand when I say this is definitely one of my top all time favourite fanfics I've read. The only issue I have with it is that it remains unfinished, but I feel it only fitting to think that Wrackspurts are to blame here, and I'd ask the author to consider ordering a Wrackspurt siphon so the story may find its fitting conclusion.

Having Recently revisited both this fic and its predecessor 'Protection from Nargles' for the first time in a couple years, I thought it only fair to leave a proper review this time.

In short, this story is wonderful. Yes it's always been largely 'fluff', although this part of the story has certainly moved beyond being purely composed of that aspect. Nonetheless, this story is wonderful because it centres around character - the writer took two established characters and very believably intertwined them, and the following plot divergences result naturally from that initial change, based on character decisions. The characters are well written, the story enrapturing, the prose elegant and easy to follow.

For those of us who have been watching the latest update date get further and further away with dismay - I don't think its as daunting as we think. From what I can surmise, the author continued actively publishing until at least 2017 - which is far less intimidating than 2014. I hope the author does continue this story - of all the fics I've read over the years, I can think of few that deserve an ending more.

Oh... crud. I forgot that this is abandoned.
Dammit.

There are so many reasons that this story should be continued and completed, but I'll keep it simple. Don't do it for us. Do it for your Luna. There are many awesome versions of Luna in fan fiction, but this is the sweetest Luna I can remember reading. She deserves to have this amazing fluffiness continue in more amazing fluffiness.
Unless she is the reason why the story has stalled out. If that is the case, send to her to room without pudding!

Dumbledore is asking Harry to be understanding that he just can’t protect him from Umbridge under the current circumstances, but he has the nerve to tell Harry that a teenager should stick around and protect all of Magical Britain from LV under the same circumstances? Disclosure: I am typing this while reading the conversation, so it may be a moot point by the end of the chapter, but I doubt it.

I know its been almost 5 years since you last updated this story, but please... i really want to know how the story ends. And im not the only one who thinks like that.
If there is a reason that youre not writting the story anymore, like something personel or that you've cancelled the story, thats something i and the others can understand so at least we can move on. But don't let us wait for so long to hear anything from you.
Me and the rest really hope that we hear from you soon again.

While wrong and an idiot, rather rare additions to the Fudge character, with him having some competency.

The rather helpless Dumbles & Minerva. And unfortunately bomb dropping threats like Flitwick's not simply carried out. The mental institution threat seems big enough for taking the exile deal.

Loss of prefab sandbox and all, BIG challenge, path rarely taken: EXIT Hogwarts. Rare, difficult, but opportunity for novel fresh NEW material.

That's a trope I never read before.

The paid xfer actually an old uni tactic. While IMO, the excesses of extremist crusade of making all women poor helpless victims and men all pigs, sad. It's also in extreme contrast, the hype and unknown numbers of false portrayals of victims now, contrasts with so many mord REAL victim in distant past, one large group: raped by athletes (usually) coeds. The SOP in past decades university response? Coverup, hushup, pay for raped coed to simply transfer to another school. Hell, the effing big sport US universities probably just traded free tuition 'scholarship' transfers. Raped girl A1and B1, get traded by uni A and B, rapists A2 and B2 continiue at same schools.

Alas, angering the reader vs overtaxing their endurance of injustices.

While canon is an eyeroll if not near suspend belief crack-like, for accepting the inept staff and headmaster (Umbridge steamrolling so unopposed ).
A caveat of fics magnifying such "drama", magnifying the need to suspend belief.

Having AT LEAST Flitwick taking action, HELPS.

Perhaps very apropos would be upon Umbridge exit, Snape given a thorough dressing down. Without a Dumbles defending intervening, or better, participating in scathing rebuke of Snape's insane James vendetta redirected at Harry.

Re-Reminded me of the similarity the threats scene(threatening Umbridge scene, staff meeting ) with thousands of similar scenes (usually Snape ... sometimes others ).
The common thread in the thousands of such scenes?
Well, how simply carrying out the threat would be quite viable. No need for accepting a tiny concession, or no concession, as if empty threat, when the one threatening had huge advantage.
Analogy would be a prosecutor with plenty of evidence for a mass murderer being convicted, accepting a plea bargain for a small fine and guilty plea to petty theft.

While such action repeated in thousands of fanfics. The question is, why bargain, why slightly deter Umbridge, why not carry out the threat, not making it (warning her), but just doing it, expose her, tell all those news organizations, tell the parents?

I guess, for 'dramatic purposes '.

As also admirable: The inserted sprinkles of clever comedy teen banter (like scene with Luna giving Harry her animated charms art project), are quite humorous and admirable in being created from scratch.
