I have a question! Why were Lin's shiki weaker than normal? Was it really just due to the earlier attack, or is something else going on? Something about the way you described them made me think there was more going on than just being depleted from a previous attack, but I could easily be reading too much into it. I do that.

I really, really liked how you handled this chapter. I think Mai's actions during the fight were perfectly in character for her slightly older, slightly wiser self. It was good to see her coming to Naru's rescue an his reaction to it. Again, your interpersonal interactions are very good. Even in Mai's discussions with Jimmy and the fog spirit's defiance of the Leader you showed a real talent.

As for Mai and the Toro Nagashi, while I'd like Naru to step up and take her to participate in either a private ceremony or to a local ceremony, it's really not his character. I do think it would be neat if Martin would show that eventually Naru could get a clue though and take Mai and Luella to participate somewhere. My thought was that despite being an obsessive scientist like his son, he's actually married to a woman who loves him. Therefore, he just might, occasionally, show a caring side. He seems to be culturally tuned in enough that he asked to have Japanese dishes prepared, so taking Mai to participate for her parents and Luella to participate for Gene isn't out of the realm of possibility. Plus Mai's sure to test better when she isn't depressed, and if the spirits are returning with the lanterns than maybe they will show up and be seen. ;)

Another fabulous chapter! I loved how you wrapped this case up, and Mai protecting Naru for a change, was great! I love that she refused to let him push her behind him, and wanted to take care of him for a change. I loved that you explained why Jimmy was still there. And the end was so sad with the festival and stuff. I can't wait to read more so please please please update again soon!

There is a japanese society in London I'm sure that they have a festival too. Maybe you can use that and Lulla and Martin can make a latern for Gene as well.

And I think the chinese culture has a similar festival so maybe Lin would partiapate as well even if it a japanese. He respect. Mai so he might just do it.

Naru APOLOGIZED! And he SMILED! *cue gasp* But it was sweet, oh so sweet. And I loved the development on the case. And I guessed right...it is related to the hazing!

Oh the developments. I love how Naru has been totally paying attention to the previous updates regarding Mai (the hospital trips, those ghostly assaults) and how he really listens to every word she says. And yes, those chivalrous attempts to protect her. And all that oozing sweetness.

And then I totally enjoyed how Mai shot those chivalrous attempts down. Because she has grown (in some aspects) and she is definitely stronger. I like how she won't rely on people around her for protection anymore. Her diatribe must've shook Naru to the core because he APOLOGIZED! *cue gasp again* And then I loved the "analysis" he made after regarding his reasons. Oh yeah. It was totally sweet, in a Spock-like way.

As I said, I am really enjoying the case. And more mysteries follow...Jim was still alive after the hazing, so does that mean he was later brought back to the warehouse and actually "done-in" there? And if the police found out about it, why wasn't there a more detailed report? Was it hushed up, or were the more detailed records just not found yet?

More mysteries. I wonder when Naru will find out about Mai and Gene's secret? I wonder how he will react, too. I wonder if he'll get so angry he ends up kissing her (Dreams. Shoo, oh gutter-y mind!).

A nice way to end this tiring week. Hospital work is tired but fun. You learn a lot, experience a lot, see a lot, even get scolded a lot, but you meet people, and get a chance to work things out. Love it. But I digress. What I meant to say really was, it was a tiring week, and I'm glad I got to read this update before it ended. XD

Had a super duper balance of eeriness and what I like to call realistic fluff :DD Gee, have I already told you how I like your kind of storytelling? your flow of words seems so effortless although there's surely a lot of work behind it. YIKES YIKES not a nice "hazing" AT ALL!

I cannot even begin to describe how much I adore this chapter! It was absolutely amazing. First of all the screaming then the next dream were both chilling, and super intense. I also love that Naru still wants t protect Mai from danger. My favorite part had to be the part at the end though when Mai goes off on Naru for not letting her protect herself, and the apology and all of that. Such a great chapter, you are such an amazing writer! PLEASE update again soon!

First, I'm glad you are feeling better. Second, thanks for updating before Saturday.

Now, on to the story. I am very surprised Naru hasn't picked up on the connection if Mai is going to be using her powers to psychically grope his. (OK, I know caressing isn't groping, but you get the idea.) I like how you handle Mai's maturity in her dreams. The fact that she knows what to look for and remember even without her dream guide shows how much she has grown. Of course, her yelling at Naru about keeping her from helping Bou-san did a good job of that too.

Naru's apology, and the smile he gives her seems to me to show that while he was stagnant when they were apart, her presence is making him grow and change. It was like for him everything was dormant until her light began to shine on him and helped him start to grow.

And if I've forgotten to mention it before, I really like the double meaning of the story name. The Transfer is a perfect match for the story.

Glad you're feeling better! Loved the update as always! Especially how Naru admitted he was wrong in not letting Mai help with the ghost attack. And yay Mai for winning an arguement against Naru! I am enjoying this so much. But I doubt Naru is gonna let her previous slip up about Gene go huh? he probably figured it out already when Gene wouldn't talk to him during this case...
