Reviews for The Sun is Gonna Shine
ElvenCompanion chapter 1 . 5/21/2012
Very cute. It is interesting to read various people's takes on how they got to the epilogue. Katniss is so vague on the epilogue that there are so many open paths. This one is definitely one of the best ones :)

Have been really enjoying your stuff.

Inosolan chapter 1 . 5/7/2012
I enjoyed this. I thought you nailed the characters especially, Johanna, and Haymitch, that is not to say that Pieta and Katniss weren't accurately drawn either. I liked how you set up the pregnancy, which felt right for Katniss.
Scarlett chapter 1 . 5/7/2012
WOW!

That was amazing, i'm normally not a big fan of pregnancy fics but this one made me so happy and sad and nostalgic all at the same time!

Brilliant job, i'm off to read your other stories now x

AcrossTheWater chapter 1 . 5/6/2012
I meant to review this quite a while ago, so I'm sorry it's taken so long..

Anyway, this is so real, just how I picture Katniss and Peeta as a maried couple. You captured Katniss's emotions perfectly. The Haymitch parts were great too! Anyway, thanks for writing a great story :)

I loved this fic too - your stories are all so wonderful. I loved that Katniss really had to go on another journey in this story, as she worked through her complicated feelings about having children and love and broken-ness. I love that you really show in this story that being broken doesn't mean that you stop having wonderful things in your life and having wonderful things doesn't mean that you stop being broken.

You show the lingering wounds really well: the still-complicated relationship with the Capitol, which still might be manipulating the Districts' population and still needs Katniss as a propaganda piece. I like how the appeals from the Capitol - that people love her and want to know how she's doing - are probably true, but are no less manipulative and unfeeling for being true. Katniss' relationship with her mother is still distant and damaged, and it might never be anything more than it is, but that doesn't mean that there isn't some good in it too, there's love there. Johanna isn't healed either, but her fierce will to live despite everything comes through too. I loved that just her act of loving other people and having a little family of people around her felt like a triumph. That's another thing I saw in this story - how sometimes living a little life with dignity and honor and love is a triumph in itself.

And, of course, her and Peetah's relationship. You write them so beautifully - showing why they are good for each other and why, damaged as they are, they still need each other. I liked that time has clearly healed them somewhat, but Peetah still has episodes and Katniss still has stay-in-bed-with-dispair-days, and still is a person who struggles with words and emotions. I really loved how you wrote her pregnancy. You did a good job of blending the usual struggles and frustrations of being pregnant (the alienation from your own body, the awkwardness, the sickness, the hunger) with the problems and fear Katniss already has. It was touching how good Peetah was at taking care of her - baking the cookies and crackers, readying the nursery. And I loved seeing how good they are at handling each other's bad days.

I'm writing too much, so I'll just say that I loved Haymitch and Effie too. And I totally adored the end. How having her daughter and preparing for a second child almost was a way of reclaiming the joy of having been a sibling to Prim. It was beautiful. :)
