Honestly, I'd need to re-read this fic from the start to even recall even mentions of the romance pairings.

Shirou came with Rin, Sakura, and Rider. Illya is his highly protective sister as well. At first, I figured that Shirou was merely going to be doing a brief vacation at the Hinata House. Maybe get talked into doing the handyman thing.

Of course, he does things Emiya style. EMIYA would approve. Then again he might also have just blown the entire room up in one shot.

I could easily see all these girls having crushes on Shirou. Normally, they'd just bounce off his denseness. Doesn't matter if he is in an open relationship. It takes some special effort to get through his thickness.

Also, he has his own standards. He'd also never date any one that his other girls disapproved of. He'd really take their character assessments to heart. That's just who he is. He isn't the type to do one night stands.

O.k. I could see him getting pulled into a one night stand after an adventure or saving some girl. That might feel too much like taking advantage of a girl for him though.

At this age, Shirou usually has rather thick emotional walls. It's only those pre selected females that are within his social circle. They've sort of been preapproved by each other and all that.

Oddly, on relationship angles, I always thought Rider and Sakura were more of a thing. Sakura has issues with sex, but makes an exception for Rider and Shirou.

Let's be honest. This fic is more about how the locals react to Shirou and their brief seeing into the impossible. Shirou doesn't give a shit about the Urashima family business. They could have easily bought him off with a minor allowance and not thinking about him anymore. Well, that was before the bitch that got her self killed off.

Now Illya will insist he take over the Urashima family or even better yet have her assign auditors to it.

I can't wait for Shirou to explain it to the old guy that killing the bitch was the only means he had of protecting the rest of the family from Illya. As long as, you are under his protection, she won't utterly crush everything about the family and ensure the memory of it is even forgotten or cursed.

They have no idea that was him being polite and only taking out the least amount of trash as the family could afford if it still wanted to survive in any form.

So my 2 cents- this story is advertised as Shirou/multi. I feel like you targeted a select audience with those words. Now you have some somewhat irrelevant character interactions that would trigger a response from that crowd. And now you are upset that they are mad.

You, my friend, are a gaslighting author. Let me clarify by saying: an open long distance relationship is not a relationship. Relationships come with unique and privilege access to a person, and sex is regarded as the most intimate physical access one can have. Normal nomenclature of the word relationship doesn’t accept Ron’s particular circumstances.

Now as to why people are mad. Jada Smith is famous for having an open relationship with her husband Will Smith, and being the only one who uses those privileges openly. This doesn’t make her less of a mother or a bad person, but it is abnormal, and makes her husband less of a man. Part of being a man is taking care of your woman or SO. Outsourcing that intimate special privilege/right is not acceptable. Will and Jada might as well be close coparents with benefits. Not a married couple.

Is there a double standard? Yes. This might be complex for you but men and women are equal but not the same. I’d cheer for my son/dad to be in porn, but I’d die a little if my daughter or mother did the same. Men and women are physically and mentally wired differently. I think if you want to write Rin sleeping around, and her not being a sexually committed relationship that’s fine. But I’m going to give you push back on any notion that she’s in a relationship with Shirou beyond close friends. Moving on, any guy that’s cool with someone fucking their girl is cuck, plain and simple. And yes, you’ve made Shirou lame and pathetic if he’s in a relationship with Rin because then he’s a cuck.

For me, I read this story like Rin is a ex-wife. So I’m cool with it all. People aren’t mad about Rin not hanging off Shirou’s dick, just the fact that he’s cool with her getting pounded by anyone.

Additionally the fate series is about the story of a magically powerful woman submitting to her master’s wishes as his servant and fighting other servants. Sure Rin might be more masculine then Shirou- but concept revolves around his relationships with the girls. So it’s always been about Shirous dick.
