This is lovely. The choppiness works in its favour I think. Whilst I do like good description, sometimes it can get in the way and I find myself wanting to just get on with the story. And with moments like this one, it gives it the sense of happening in real time, so that we're experiencing it at the same pace that the boys are. Plus with the content of what they say to each other, it's more than enough to make me feel all the love that's present.

This was beautiful. Really. Moments like these are my favorites, just talking about the future, and getting caught up in the moment, and just so sweet and loving and perfect.

As to your question, there is a time and place for all sorts of writing styles. Sometimes you need the descriptions, and the flowery words, and the long, explanatory sentences. But this. This is perfect, just the way it is. It's just them and their feelings, and there isn't really room for anything else.
