In all honesty, I'm quite relieved - I was expecting one of them at least to flip out slightly and angst things up but I'm so, so glad they didn't. I approve of Matthew's plan to leave in six months and then they can be 'us', and.. awwwww. I just wonder how they'll manage until then...

Great update. I do think though that the next 6 months are going to be very interesting for them! The office shall be super awkward obviously (and I am really looking forward to those scenes), but those body guards... I think they may wish they didn't have them following their every move quite quickly.

I loved Mary's list of headlines/puns too. Very Mary like, to think of the practical, and to point it out in such a way.

OMG the ending! The plane MIGHT have been *sabotaged?* Oh, the intrigue makes a delicious addition to an already meaty, wonderful chapter. :) So many ups and downs (that's what they said, ahem - BTW, LOVED the pun section there, priceless!) Mary trying to be practical, as always - and Matthew thinking emotionally, as always. :( Their last night together was wonderfully bittersweet (also HOT) and so emotionally written. Sigh, it always comes back to the thumbs. :( Can't wait to meet Alice properly - she's lovely already! :) Matthew loves Lady Mary! That's what he said. ;) SO excited for more - please update SOON! :D

I know you give a song for every chapter (which is a fun thing), but I keep forgetting to listen to it until the end. At any rate, I did have iTunes going during this chapter, and the song from "Down With Love" came on just as I was ending the chapter, and it just fit so well. You have no idea. This story is, it's timeless in a new and interesting way. I mean, you're taking these characters from 1920 and you've effortlessly put them into the modern setting with blackberries and IPOs and Facebook, but I listened to a song based on the 60s and thought, "This could happen then, too, it's so well written."

Okay, that digression aside: I really liked this chapter. I liked the details of them arguing over the meals in the restaurant (Hope they tipped well). Barcelona felt like another universe, which I suspect you were going for, a place where the rest of their lives didn't exist. After the near plane crash (which gah, just about killed me, you evil writer), these last couple of chapters have been deliciously tense and wonderful and pretty much designed to put a smile on your face. I know for a fact that I will be thinking about this chapter tomorrow at work and grinning at inappropriate times and my boss will possibly think that I am crazier than she thought me previously. Thank you for that.

Though I do have to admit some concern about how Eddie is going to deal with the bodyguard! Alice took it in stride, but Eddie? Oh, dear. I adore the way you've been revealing her story, bit by bit, and how traumatized Mary really is over it. Just well done.

Okay, I'm going to go before I spend the next hour gushing over this story because I will, I swear I will. It's just that good. It's like crack, but legal and awesome and—okay, going now. Thank you for the chapter! Such a fantastic read.

What a wonderful weekend they had. a prefect weekend that they cant have again because of no fraternization rule both of them sign when they were rebuilding the company. Im sad because of this, the feelings and its going to be a long hard six months for both our main characters. I know Mary right about the whole thing of the company gossip and shit but damn it I want to be happy,waking up together and Matthew decided to leave after he fixed the company. Thank you for confirming my suspicion of Eddie not speaking, hope she finds her voice in future chapters. I suspect Patrick is behind the jet malfunctioning. Alice hello, your right you brother is in love with Mary and wants to marry her and make babies with her and stuff. XD

This was so ridiculously perfect, I can’t even. The two of them standing in line like normal people, holding hands with her head on his shoulder, is maybe my favorite image of them ever. And then the ending! If they can’t be perfect and happy and together right away, I’m kind of really hoping there’s going to be loads of tension in the chapters to come!

"This is absurd, Greg thought, as the music, initially decent dance music, morphed into dreadful, but apparently hugely popular 80s and 90s French pop." Hahaha! Touché! Although, I wouldn't say *dreadful*. Come on, it has it's charm. ;-)

This is really really really really good! I'm so glad I decided to start reading Downton fics for this. You sound like you've done your research and everything and the idea that Matthew started a financial firm is incredibly intriguing. Of course, they way you wrote the later Matthew and Mary's relationship is to die for. Keep it up! I'll be waiting :)

Aaaaaaaahhhh! This chapter is just a big happy sigh from me. The sex and the cuddling and the touching and the kisses and the simple pleasure of BEING together... Oh, they're gorgeous. Wibbles at the end... though it seems somehow inevitable. I'm anticipating glorious angst to come! :D

I discovered this story yesterday thanks to in-flagrante's rec, read it in one sitting and loved it. Such a clever story! And, a Radiohead mention, I'm sold!
