| Beanie Cullen chapter 1 . 2/27/2012
Very poignant and your attention to detail is, as always, breathtaking. It's obvious you research all of your stories thoroughly before writing them and it makes them feel like an immersion into another time.
I loved it and thank you so much for writing.

What a coincidence. I saw document on History Channel about this fire few weeks ago. You did good job with description and climate.

I loved it! It was really sweet and romantic. Mary Alice's death was very sad but it gave a realistic factor to the story.

This story was as inspiring as it was disturbing. Thanks for reminding me of the strength and tenacity our immigrant ancestors showed.
| kneon chapter 1 . 2/20/2012

| sersmom chapter 1 . 2/20/2012
Very well done! An interesting reminder for those of us with immigrant backgrounds.
| Gernellers chapter 1 . 2/19/2012
Thanks for your story. I've been to Ellis Island and really had an emotional experience thinking about all the immigrants that passed through and all the history it contains. I love historical fiction and immensely enjoyed your story. So much so that I've looked up more information about the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire online. Good luck with the contest.
| Shamatt0403 chapter 1 . 2/19/2012
Factory owners used immigrants almost like slave labor. My grandmother came to America in 1920. She was 17 but was one of the middle children and had a couple of older siblings already here in Boston so luckily she arrived at Ellis and boarded a train the same day she arrived. Simply brilliant story.
| DreamerRoad chapter 1 . 2/19/2012
Wow, that was quite an emotional ending. The research that you put into getting the historical details right is impressive.
| BelleDean chapter 1 . 2/19/2012
when Isabella mentioned that she planned to work as a seamstress I got a bad feeling. My mom told me story of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire when I was a kid. You captured the rough conditions new immigrants to the US faced in this story so well. congrats. really great storytelling.
and work in factories before unions was hard. it's a shame that most people seem to have forgotten about the suffering and scarifies that led to the labor movement these days.
You'll definitely have my vote. :)
