| Guest chapter 10 . 12/6/2014
Love the final statue. And I agree. Even in her most ridiculous incarnations, Mystique is always utterly badass.
Oh My God.
I waited until I finished reading he entire thing before reviewing, since it's marked complete already.
This was amazingly well done.
Excellent at keeping me stuck on the edge of crying for nearly the entire thing. Though that's partly because I got the hints towards the general 'we do this and then we die' aspect early on and having that on top of the other shit piled on them, and the excellently written effects of that shit... Yeah, I'd have been crying miserably several times if the writing hadn't kept me so desperately caught up in the story I couldn't stop even for that- can't see to read if your crying, after all. ;)
Onslaught is officially the most terrifying 'mutant' ever. No more debates. At all. Onslaught gets the top ranking, possibly forever.
Separate, they both always rank awfully high and cause half the debates. But when they are that tightly and perfectly 'clicked'? Amplifying each other?
Yeah, no contest. Ever again. Holy Shit.
Shaw, you ****ed up. Badly. *grumbles incoherently* *rummages for an acceptable image to attach to a target for archery practice*
*bows* Very, very much job well done. I'd offer treats in offering, but they aren't virtual enough to attach here.

Congratulations, the story was remarkable and cohesive, not to mention coherent, which is nothing short of a miracle in fanfiction, considering you handled over three different timelines. Take a moment to give a thought to professional writing or world domination for a second; you might have what it takes.
On the other hand, while I'm generally against they-all-die-the-whole-one-of-him-(or two, in this case) endings, the meaning was plain from about halfway through and constantly reinforced since. It's been a delicate, elegant and imminent progression and as much as I didn't like where it was headed, it was believable. As a reader, I got the message that this was not for the angst points, but rather a natural end, seeing as Charles makes no progress towards healing, whatsoever; I admire consistency (again, over three timelines, astounding). For this reason, the epilogue ending fell flat. I like that you gave some hope, but unlike the X-Men 3 ending (yeah, that movie happened) the deaths were not thrown in on a screenwriter's whim after one too many and thus ambiguous endings should not be thrown in just to please the audience.

This story is a couple of years old but it had me sobbing like a 4 year old by the end. I had to stop multiple times to wipe away the tears. With the sheer amount of emotion with every additional piece of the puzzle revealed is catastrophic. I can see why so many have added this to a favorite's list or recommended it in other stories (which is actually how I came to read it.) It isn't too often that I write a review for a story aged nearly 2 years but this warrants a kudos.
Amazing. Fantastic. A dramatic and emotional read. Spell binding from the first chapter. That's what this story was and much more. Thank you and good luck on everything it is you do. I hope to read more of your fantastic work in the near future.

It took a bit to get past all the time skips and sub-plot intertwining, but once I put it all together - wow. This was so absolutely incredible. That ending, the build, just- wow. I want to hug you for writing this. It's the best thing I've read all week. I'll definitely be passing it on.

Oh god this story. How do you write so beautifully, wringing such feelings of happiness and desolation from your readers? This is such an amazing story I had to read it in between classes.
I really liked how you built up the suspense, tantalising us with their secret but never fully revealing it until the end. I had somehow gotten a feeling that this story wouldn't end well for our favourite mutant couple, and I thought I had sufficiently prepared for it but oh lord the blow that you delivered to my heart in the previous chapter. It's really interesting reading about a Charles that's not quite Charles, there's this unnerving sense of callousness and brutality in him that's just so antithetical to his canon self. Yet you presented him in such a believable manner, with his unfortunate circumstances that shaped him to his darker self. And I absolutely love and appreciate the way your story transitions, the flashbacks were very well executed and it had me anticipating yet fearing to read about Charles's captivity.
And that was a very beautiful epilogue. You have such a wonderful writing style, I like how you closed it with Kitty's pov mirroring the beginning of this story. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading this but here's some mental bear hugs for you, thank you thank you so much for writing this gem :)

My goodness, I really, really love this story. I was hooked from the first chapter and cant stop reading until the end. Your characterization and plot are very impressive.
your Dark!Charles is very broken and lost, and Erik is just desperately trying to piece everything together. Their relationship, their love, after what happens to Charles is bittersweet and sad and gentle. And their last night made me tear up a little when I realize something is very wrong, and it's proven that in the end, they decide to remove themselves from the equation. ... :(
I also want to point out that you're really did a great job in switching scene between the past and present by distinguishing them with details (very, very, very impressive XD) and also selecting the right mind (person/POV) in depicting it thus backing up each character with more solid ground and thoughts.
The plot itself is epic, and you managed to mix the scene with the original timeline, and it's very cool.
I had wished, they could have been together in the end, and I secretly hope that it's Erik doing to the statue at the last chapter...(because I don't really get it, my bad -_-"") and I imagine a scene that somewhere, far away, Charles is comfortably warm, watching the snow outside the window, with Erik holding him both physically and mentally. Just two of them and totally separated from the world...*sigh
I'm sorry for the rambling and the bad language, English is not my native tongue, but I hope that I still could get my message across that I love this story and I love you for writing this story. Wait, that came out wrong, but.
Please keep up the good work! :)

| shock and awe chapter 10 . 10/6/2012
This monster of a story, though only ten chapters, is absolutely mind gripping. I had to sit and read all of it in one go or I know it would have ate at my conscience until I was done reading. It had me laughing, shivering, thinking, and especially crying (chapter 9). It is a beautiful, glorious fanfiction. Well done! *applauds* I'm going to go wash my face now. :D I feel great!
