|Reviews for Beyond Death|
| Beckydaspatz chapter 1 . 2/27/2012
Are you ready for a long review? Well are you? Cause I have TONS to say about this story!
I loved it! S7 has been SO heavy in the angst that I am almost aching for some H/C in the show instead of seconds(and thirds, and fourths, etc, etc) of hurt.
I think one of my very favorite aspects of Dean is uber-protective Dean! I'm an older sister and while I have never had to protect my little sister from ghosts and zombies I totally relate to the urge to kick in the teeth of the people who hurt her.
It was SO well fleshed out! Read completely and totally like an episode and you know these characters so very well that I swear I can hear Jared and Jensen saying these lines.
I loved it! Have I said that already? Cause I do! It was the perfect fic to tide us starved SPN fans over until the 16th (really WTH!) and it's always a joy to read something that is fun and well thought out. Thank you so much for writing it! When I get time I'm going to read all of your stories (cause they NEVER disappoint)
Dean scratched his cheek. "Not clowns?"
"Oh." Dean's eyes slid closed. "Then keep it down. Beat-up hunter trying to sleep over here." He punched up his pillow, turned away from Sam and if the steady rhythm of his breathing was any indication, was back to sleep in seconds.- BWAHAHAHAAH! LOVE THIS!
"Meet the last guy who pissed me off. And most of the time, I like him." Dean clapped a hand on Grant's shoulder and steered him to the table by the window, shoving him down into a chair. He winked at Sam once his back was to Grant. "How you doing, Sammy?"
"I'll live." Sam fought to keep a straight face. "No thanks to you."- PERFECT!
Dean's eyebrow quirked. "A cat? Like a kitty-cat, or a, you know, a manly lion…cat."
He got a classic bitchface for that one.- Please, PLEASE start writing for the show pronto.
Dude." Sam weakly swatted Dean. "She was like Mom's age."
"And you, my brother, are catnip to the cougar set." Dean shrugged at Sam's bitchface. "I know – I can't figure it out either."
Sam hissed as he tried to push himself up.
"Whoa, whoa…" Dean placed a gentle hand on Sam's chest to stop him. "You're gonna need my help to get vertical." He scrambled to his feet, then hooked his arms under Sam's. "You know the drill – exhale and push up on three. Two…three."
Sam couldn't stifle a yell, but he was up and standing beside his brother, breathing the short, shallow breaths that tormented his injured ribs the least. He nodded his thanks to Dean, his expression darkening when he got his first good look at his brother. "Your face."
Dean grinned, his arm still around Sam's back until he was sure his brother was steady. "Handsome, I know."- I miss this. I miss them leaning on each other, I miss the bickering, I miss the support and love spoken only through panicked yells, I just...miss this.
Dean exhaled slowly, adjusted his stance, and swung the axe.- This was very evocative for some reason. I felt really bad for Jens, but it was awesome that he chose for it to end this way. GREAT JOB!
Sam exhaled loudly in mock annoyance. "Please tell me you're not gonna mother me until my ribs knit."
"I do not mother, Sam." Dean scowled as he sat on the end of his brother's bed, shuffled the cards and dealt two hands. "The only time that word applies to me is when bad guys use it, and then it has whole different meaning. Now shut up and play."- FANTASTIC. I can SEE the credits rolling in my head. Thank you so much for this and please don't EVER stop writing! :D

Great case with a really nice twist.
"Meet the last guy who pissed me off. And most of the time, I like him." This made my day.

Oh happy day, you wrote another fic - yay! And I didn't even have you nag or guilt you into it this time, LOL!
Solid case fics are a rarity these days but this was meaty and detailed, I loved the blend of lore and real life drama, you certainly have a talent for striking the right balance between the two.
It's probably a little tiresome for me to say this since I always do, but I can't get enough awesome big bro Dean and I loved seeing him anticipate Sam's needs and mother him! It's an old favourite of mine and it works both ways, so I was thrilled to see some worried Sam too.
I loved the twists and turns with the Viking mythology and the Halvorsen brother's and how you dealt with the Jens at the end, seeing the human side of him asking for it to end – I found that very touching.
The banter between the boys was spot on – you always nail that, and there's always a few gems of Dean's that make me smile along the way (“And you, my brother, are catnip to the cougar set”).
The only bad thing was that it ended – I was really hoping it was going to stretch out to two chapters, but then again I'm greedy like that (as you well know)! Thanks so much for writing and sharing this, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a complete pleasure to read. Take care my friend, Abbi.

I really enjoyed the viking twist. And man, wouldn't it be nice if the legend included (for once) the avenging dead person going back to sleep once the crims are gone. Ah well!

I'm so glad I was able to read this - I'm still avoiding Season 7 spoilers. Not sure when we'll get to see it over here.
It's a fascinating but very sad story. One would hope that Jens isn't heading downstairs, in spite of the killings. He doesn't deserve that.
And, of course, you know my love of Dean taking care of his little brother, so well done here. Perfect!
I haven't yet seen The Walking Dead season 2, but season 1 was superb. Really had us on the edge of our seats and installed in me a deep seated fear of all things zombie, yet I'm also weirdly fascinated by them. I think, quite possibly, that next to Tsunamis zombies are my worst nightmare, and I've awakened during the night on many occasions, bathed in a cold sweat, breathing heavily, and feeling like I've just run the London Marathon at full speed!
Cheers hon. Loved this story.

I thought this story was really good. Thank you.
| ncis-lady chapter 1 . 2/27/2012
That was awesome, loved it! The whole plot made perfect sense, and I loved the story of those two brothers and the way it was so similiar to Sam and Dean's relationship.
Very well done, this would make a great real episode. Maybe you should send it to Kripke, just for fun? ;)

Enjoyed it? I loved it! A good juicy case fic with a heaping helping of whumped Sam to sink my teeth into? Excellent! And I like that the case involved brothers and that it was set in season 7 but with none of the angsty spoilers to muddle things up. Very nicely done and superbly creative!
And you should totally check out The Walking Dead. Next to Supernatural, it's my favorite show.

Thank You! After so MUCH (tiring) Angel business in this fandom it is so refreshing to read a Sam and Dean case fic! Especially when it is so well written. It reminded me why I like this show so much. I hope some authors here will follow your example.

I know I keep saying this, but it bears repeating: I can see this story as a SPN ep. I do love the idea of Jens (wondering if you chose the name since it's close to Jensen, which I'm assuming means "Jen's son"?) falling under some Norse curse since his bloodline is of Viking origin. There are so many varied cultures in North America, that I'm honestly surprised the SPN show writers haven't tapped into this goldmine to find their monsters of the week, like you have here in this story. I had to look up the phrase Dean uses, "If I had my druthers..." and was surprised to learn that it's an American phrase. I've never heard it before! I wonder which part of the States you'd hear this in? Not only did I get to enjoy a cool story, I learned something new! LOL Did the draugr legend include the part about the nails being hammered into the bottom of the feet to keep it from roaming the Earth? I thought that little detail was fascinating for some reason. And, of course, I enjoyed the parallels between the Winchester brothers and the Halvorsen brothers, and Dean questioning whether he was a hero. (Sam might qualify as well, since the Norse gods may not care what Sam's role was when it came to the Judeo-Christian Apocolypse. On the other hand, they may not like him as a candidate for Hero since Lucifer has hitched along for a ride in Sam's skull.) I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

LOVE! You have such a great way of telling stories and you get their voices so well
The case fic was awesome. I love when the author does research and makes the myth come to life! Wonderful stuff, as always. Feel free to beat up Sam any time you like!
