The story is not bad, but may I point out that the characters are somewhat OOC?

I'm actually quite impressed. Most folks don't know about Japan's Unit 731 or the artrotious shit they did. Part of the reason is because it was just one horrifying event in a WORLD WAR of horrifying events I suppose. Another might be the culture as well. I know talk about Ww2 is very hush hush in Japan, at least compared to Germany which doesn't shy away from the Holocaust (and also can't get away from the image/idea of Nazi. Ask anyone if they know someone famous from Germany and Hitler is bound to pop up) or the U.S. Or Britain.
Anyhoo I applaud your research for this. This topic is pretty dark and I think you were able to handle it well. The only mistakes I could see were the occasional lower cased 'I' when it should be a capital.

Oh, yes. Good for you, not to omit any...ah...'delicate'. matters. Damn, I'm sick of that, I ask the Japanese people I know and they stare blankly at the mention of Nanjing. I go a little further, and they glare. My parents, heh, my grandparents...'Japanese' wouldn't be in a sentence without 'bastard' being somewhere close by. Ugh.
But on a lighter note, an engaging read, keep on!

O.O loving it!
| KnowledgeandImagination chapter 27 . 2/16/2013
wow, this was a really interesting chapter. Japan is being really overprotective, but jumping off the other extreme. I have a feeling the others won't take that very well... loved the Macbeth quote though! XD
Finally, he remembered! I was really feeling sad that he didn't.
thank you for the update!

...So dark... I like it.
| Myrkvun Rautsson chapter 26 . 12/25/2012
Half Japanese and half Cantonese right here! So glad you wrote this fic.
I wanna go back in time and kick the hell out of those Japanese leaders! Oh yeah... like a boss! But before that... I'm gonna throw up in my bathroom.
| KnowledgeandImagination chapter 26 . 11/1/2012
Wow, this story is really intense! I feel so scared for the characters sometimes! I love how there are a few rays of 'light', especially when the Allies are joking around. I love the character Dragon, and all your moments of humor or dry jokes between the characters.
I'm also glad that you didn't try and soften too much of what happened in Nanjing (sorry, I speak mandarin, and I find it hard to call it Nanking. It's just too weird for me). I think what always angered me about what happened is the fact that so few people acknowledge what happened. Not just Japan, but the rest of the world.
and I'm also glad that at the same time, you don't demonize all the people. I believe that a few individuals do not represent the whole, and just as Kiku is ignorant, a lot of them are as well. I don't hate Japan at all for what happened. I just wish that even if they do not want to apologize yet, they at least acknowledge it and stopped censorship (I don't know how horrified I was to find my Japanese friend denies that it ever happened). But as I said, I don't hold any grudge against the people. I really like their culture and country all the same. I think you captured that idea in this story, where you can't blame all of them (as personified by Japan) for what happened.
Anyways, I also loved how you write China's epic rescue of Korea. It was so awesome. And I do hope North Korea can sort of exist again sometime... maybe not in this timeline, but a hint that she will would be nice. XD
Once again, very, very intense story that really got me thinking. I love your writing. I do hope you will be able to update sometime soon!
