| DarkPirateKing69 chapter 6 . 2/9
okay.. i though i would be able to read little more.. but reading about 100% canon Naruto is just mentally exhausting. i don't blame people who find his willful ignorance endearing, instead of inexcusable character flaw, since people have right to have their own opinion.. but, since i personally loathe people like that in real life, my tolerance is pretty low for such thing.
| TheLiteHasTruth chapter 14 . 2/8
You should read through this chapter. You forgot Jiraiya :(

So, for those of you who are reading this review, you may be wondering why I'm focusing so much attention on this fight. There are a few reasons for that: 1. Minato and Tobi are the premier users of space-time techniques in the entire series of Naruto; 2. Minato is my favorite character; 3. This is the second time that the two of them are facing off against each other.
So, in order to judge the fight with as little bias as possible, I'm going to reiterate what each of them are bringing to the fight before it begins. Then I'll judge the fight as each move is done, then give a final judgement on the outcome.
These next two sections of the review are going to be a bit messy, but I'm trying to conserve on space. So, here we go:
Minato's condition, skills, intelligence, knowledge, etc:
Chapter 5 section 2 paragraph 3: To his and Kakashi's great relief, his body had not deteriorated with death, just needed to ease the kinks out.
Chapter 5 section 3 paragraph 4: I need to stay out of Taijutsu as much as I can. My body isn't at it's finest.
Chapter 5: Jutsu used by Minato and number of times used:
Shadow clone: 4 Finger touching ground technique: 1 Rasengan: 2 Water Dragon: 1 Rumbling wind wall: 1 Wind style: Beast wave strike: 1 Shuriken Kage bunshin no jutsu: 1 Flying Thunder God Jutsu: 1
Chapter 24, section 1, paragraph 2: “So this is the speed needed when traveling with the Yellow Flash,” he commented lightly...
Chapter 24, section 1, paragraph 12: Minato hints at a jutsu he is creating, something tied to fuuinjutsu or space-time techniques. It is, however, incomplete.
Minato is capable of using instantaneous teleportation, along with having incredible reflexes and physical speed without using the shunshin technique.
His skill with the hiraishin technique is such that he knows the condition of where each tag is and how he would land when arriving. Proof of this is shown in Minato's fight against A when he lands (from using the hiraishin) in a crouch after being in a position where he's mostly standing up, followed by appearing above A in the correct position to allow him to swing out and strike with maximal power (that of having his limbs close to him).
He apparently is also capable of making a ice style technique via the use of sealed air and water chakra. Arriving properly can be interrupted as shown by Tobi's use of Kamuii, however when this happened Minato was almost completely sucked into the other dimension, so such a happenstance would require similar conditions.
Minato's sensei was Jiraiya, someone quite skilled in earth and fire style techniques.
Minato knows of Tobi's skills and one of the weaknesses of Kamuii (though of course he doesn't know that that is what the technique is called). Tobi in turn knows that Minato can only travel to a place that he has tagged. Physically Minato is still recovering. However, once recovered Minato will be back in his prime, and as stated before, Minato has recovered significantly. Minato also knows that a rasengan isn't enough to kill Tobi, and since Minato has no fuuinjutsu or space-time techniques that can cancel Tobi's, Minato must resort to cutting off Tobi's head.
Finally, Minato is a tactical genius (among other forms) and would know that in order to defeat Tobi, he would need to push himself hard since Tobi would likely not give him (Minato) any chances to attack once the other kage got involved.
Tobi's condition, skills, intelligence, knowledge, etc:
Tobi is capable of using Kamuii, earth style techniques, and fire style techniques. His reaction times for activating kamuii are nearly equivalent to Minato's own skill with level 2 hiraishin as is shown in his battle against Naruto, Kakashi, and Gai in some of the more recent manga and anime episodes. This shows an incredible level of situational awareness. He is also fairly skilled with weapons. In addition to this, Tobi is aware that Minato is only capable of teleporting to places that he has marked. Physically Tobi is in his prime with incredible strength, endurance, and speed, though the latter is outdone by both Minato and A significantly. Given that Minato's defense relies upon greater speed and reflexes, Tobi can use whatever tactics that are available to him in order to simply hit and hurt Minato. Enough of those and Minato will go down.
Finally, Tobi would want to push himself to destroy Minato before the other kage got involved as he would not get very many more chances to attack if he had to fight all the kage at once.
Now for the actions taken within the fight itself:
While a small detail, elemental clones are not capable of using ninjutsu. This would require shadow clones to do. An additional benefit of shadow clones is that they don't require direct control from the caster, thus have equal physical and mental abilities as the original. This means that Minato's clones should have been shadow clones at the beginning of the fight, not water clones. Because of this fact, the final shadow clone at the outset of the fight probably shouldn't have been so caught off guard by Tobi's counterstrike. This is possibly countered by the fact that Minato's clones, along with himself, aren't at peak physical capability.
Minato and Tobi subsequently get right into it, with Minato forming several clones and using taijutsu and ninjutsu to try to simply catch Tobi off guard. Tobi is having none of it. Somehow, though, he again has superior speed and is capable of catching Minato's clones off guard again. This one goes down to interpretation of Minato's physical state as Minato at his peak is completely superior to Tobi in both reflexes and actual speed.
After that Tobi rushes toward Minato while Minato attempts to counter with a wind slash to Tobi's midsection, no tricks and no guile involved to bypass Tobi's space time defense. Odd, anyone?
Then Tobi uses an earth technique to destroy the area so as to hinder Minato's speed and movement. Minato, despite having trained with Jiraiya (a skilled user of earth style), and having faced thousands of shinobi from the hidden rock village, somehow lands badly after teleporting when he can visibly see that the earth is crumbling around and is specifically using the hiraishin to avoid the damage from the earth technique. While Minato's physical condition is at it's best, he IS good enough to fight as an A rank, possibly S rank shinobi at this time. This stumble shouldn't have happened. Consequences on the fight if it were different? None, most likely.
Then Minato and Tobi clash via rasengan and dust dragon. Cool stuff. Nothing to really analyze there (apart from the fact that it probably should have been a stone dragon, but meh).
Tobi subsequently destroys Minato's water clone while Minato freezes Tobi's arm with one of the remaining traps. Minato is only half a second away from slamming home that rasengan, which would have allowed him to tag Tobi and then cut off his head. Minato gets props for using the surprise factor of the ice trap to land a hit. Though his weakened physical condition is obviously the only thing that kept the strike from landing, survival is survival no matter how it comes.
Tobi follows that up with an attempt at Kamuii, though Minato "flys" away too quickly to be caught. Minato again somehow doesn't know how he is about to land and crashes into a tree. Consequences if Minato landed correctly? Less pain, more endurance, no likely ultimate change to final outcome of the battle as the other kage are just around the corner at this point. However, if this bit were changed Minato might have had enough energy to avoid the next attack, or teleport one last time. In addition to this, I'd like to point out that Minato wasn't nearly completely pulled into the kamui, so it isn't likely that Minato was thrown off balance in the same manner as was shown in the anime during the Kyuubi attack.
The final set of attacks are that of Minato going straight at Tobi one more time while Tobi uses another earth rock spear jutsu. Minato almost completely avoids getting hurt while Tobi avoids it completely. Minato is out of energy and takes a couple of stomps to the gut before teleporting one last time. Because of Minato being out of energy, he is unable to avoid Tobi's taijutsu strike here. This is where not having crashed into the trees might have helped (keep Minato's dignity, if nothing else).
After that help arrives for Minato, thus ending the fight.
Ending: stalemate. Neither side killed the other, which was their goals. The fight is other wise pointless as neither person was injured enough to not recover.
So that is mostly how the fight went, the small bits that I disagreed with not really changing the ending, though perhaps giving Minato a bit more credibility and dignity. However, there seems to be a glaring flaw with this fight: every single attack that Minato did should have had some sort of trick to it. Minato KNOWS that he can't land a hit unless Tobi is attacking at the same time. He also knows that he lacks the necessary space time techniques to sufficiently counter Tobi's own. However, in this fight there were quite a few places where Minato didn't do anything but go straight at the Uchiha b**tard. Where's Minato's genius here? Sure, Minato is shown to have learned how to make a combination elemental attack via fuuinjutsu, a feat of genius to be sure. But clever tactics, not jutsu creation, is what would take down Tobi and Minato would have known that. What ever happened to Minato simply attempting to tag Tobi without using a rasengan? Surely he would have lasted longer without burning through so much of his chakra, especially since he knows that Tobi would only go down with his head cut off.
In the end how the fight was written is both slightly irritating and quite irritating. If those are the tactics Minato would have used, then it seems to me that there are only a few errors in what was written (Minato not knowing how he was going to lan

Thank you for the great chapter and that you haven't dropped this story like so many did. Keep up the great work. :)

Okay, first of all love love love this fic so very much and now that I've done a read through I just wanted to mention a few things.
1) I love how you handled Sakura in this fic. Yeah she is a little whiny but she's like that in canon but the way you made her realise it was a stupid promise to get sasuke back was handled really well.
2) Yeah, at this point in time I really wanna punch minato in the head. I love the guy to bits seriously, and I get he's hokage and all that jazz, but he's really gotta take responsibility for slamming kurama into naruto's gut. He keeps blaming it on being hokage and personally I think he could show a little more remorse. I mean, he really screwed his sons life up just a bit.
Anyway, love the story can't wait for a new chapter 3

Yeah, I'm often surprised by the God sized heart Naruto seems to carry. Really toys with your mind at times, you know? Really bouncing in my seat to find out who found Sasuke.

| Cold Flame96 chapter 33 . 2/1
Oh I love the way you characterize Sakura! Most people tend to exaggerate her traits a lot and either make her really bitchy or a weeping damsel. Her interactions with Naruto seem so genuine. Those 2 are my brotp, so it really makes me happy when people write them well.
I'm kind of sad about your elimination of Team Taka though. I actually kind of liked them, and the fact that Karin went to the Leaf of her own free will. That's okay, though. I wasn't expecting this to be identical to canon because that would be boring.
Great chapter! See you next week!
