Lololololololol this is literally the ending i was hoping for. Bless this fic.

Yoooo ahah wow! So she faked her death! It was all one long ruse to take them for all they were worth! That's pretty sneaky. Doers that mean she sabotaged the boat and killed her family? Because if so, that's pretty dark! Seems to be a happy ending, though, so that's great!

What. Sophie's dead? Well that's a twist I didn't see coming. All the more reason for Harley to agree to steal Tim with the Joker, I suppose. That's quite a death. I like that the Joker, in his own way, tried to brighten Harley's mood with another kid. Showing he *does* have some sort of affinity for Harley and her well-being, even if it is selfish as her mood affects her performance in the gang; while also showing that even though he doesn't fully understand *why* she's upset, Joker does recognize she is upset and tries to solve it.

Oh boy, that was absolutely a gut wrenching chapter... Like a heel-turn (I think that's the term). Also, there's some dark foreshadowing about Tim considering Barbara's motivation to helping Harley and Sophie. She says she couldn't stand it if something similar happened to Tim... and then a few years later, not only will it happen to Tim, but it will be by Harley's willful hand! Perhaps revenge for this separation of Sophie? It's sad that Harley felt the need to lie to Sophie about her feelings, but I really think Sophie wouldn't go along with it any other way.

She lives! Sophie lives! and just in time too. sounds like she's going to get the mother of all plea deals or some sort of witness protection. but will that be enough? it's funny that Harley see a a normal and stable life as a nightmare. part of me laughed thinking what if she saw the normal family as herself and the joker but as middle class Americans with normal lives! also, Sophie remembers Harley which means scarecrows mind altering drugs are out of her system for good... hopefully

I really like that you showed the Joker's softer side. A lot of people seem to forget that the Joker does have slightly tender moments within the DCAU... even if many times they are out of self-interest. That being said, it was nice that you didn't go with the too-easy route of "Joker's an all around bad dude, m'kay" because it always draws the question that if he's always so horrible, why would Harley stay with him? He has tender sides and that's what Harley sees in him, his humanity. She may refuse to acknowledge rehabilitation for him or having a normal life with him is a lost cause, but she *does* latch onto and bring out his tenderness in some ways. I really appreciate your story for not falling into the common fanfiction Joker trap. Major props just for that!

Hello, this is cooopercrisp from the review thread. I really like the premise of this story, and you have a strong grasp on the Harley and Joker characters. I am eager to read what happens next, but I need to give everyone else's chapters a review first.

You didn't specifically request any concrit, but there was one small formatting issue I wanted to point out. I recognize that in comics, a lot of the important words are italicized for emphasis, but that doesn't always translate well into prose like this. Therefore, I found the use of italics a little distracting at times. It wasn't enough of a problem to prevent me from enjoying the story, but in the future I think it would be better to use them more sparingly.

The Joker is the unlikely hero of this story? I can get with that! I'm glad that you went with a more fair interpretation of him where he can be abusive and he is selfish, but if your in his gang, particularly Harley, you're more or less under his protection. I wonder if he will have a second flare up on Crane later when he realizes that his break in did little more than postpone heartbreak and loss in his gang tho. I wonder why he didn't wait for Harley and Sophie to escape with him, tho, because wont Harley be sent off to Arkham?

What a cliffhanger of an ending! This whole chapter was pretty action-packed, but not in the way you'd expect. Seems like good help *is* hard to find and I'm surprised they didn't try to rope Batman in on the whole thing (I know they explained Batman's absence already but boy he would have made short work of Crane). I like that no matter how capable Harley was, Scarecrow was still a step ahead. Really made the situation feel hopeless, which makes for good drama!

Holy cow, so his new catch was *all* of them? Oof, that's rough... I thought for sure he was gonna just take one person and then escape just as the others awoke but this is worse! You did a great job of showcasing Scarecrow's range of toxins and there were even some moments that reminded me of what I have Scarecrow threaten to do in my fic! Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Scarecrow is often overlooked despite being an A-list villain for Batman haha Joker just sucks up all the attention!

Man she didn't realize she'd been there for so long? Seems like Scarecrow really did a number o her mind while he had her. I'm glad she's okay and that despite their differences, Harley and Batgirl and Robin managed to work together to free Sophie. However, they didn't seem to clear the room smart enough. I'm surprised Robin just assumed Scarecrow would stay down! He must have been too distracted by Sophie to think straight! I wonder who Scarecrow's new catch is... I'm guessing Harley but I could be wrong.

They caught up with Burgundy and finally got a big break. I'm glad Scarecrow wasn't at that old warehouse as that would have been too obvious. Also, I like how Burgundy isn't so big and bad now that he's outnumbered and isn't the one pulling the surprise! Is he an original character?

Guard Sorkin? As in Arlene Sorkin, the voice actress for Harley Quinn? Ha! Nice! Btw did you know she is married to Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown)? Sad to see Joker doesn't want to help but not at all surprised. His reaction was actually really funny. Why would anyone want to kidnap a kid dressed like a clown, indeed! We still don't really know the 'why'. So now Harley is working with Batgirl and Robin. Hijinks will definitely ensue!
