I tend to stay away from songfic like I stay away from crossover fic - it's rarely done well. However, this one /works/ because you didn't choose a typical love song for Wolfwood to sing - like I mentioned before, "The One I Love" is less about true love and more about a darker, more complicated relationship, which suits W/V. I interpreted the lyrics about the "simple prop" and "fire" to refer to the violent circumstances that keep them separated as well as their own personal hang-ups. It's an angsty song for an angsty couple.
I also liked the disjointed lines of text as Vash remembers things that were said to him in the past. It honestly kind of creeped me out (in a good way).
I admit that I kind of lol'd at Midvalley's amorousness towards Wolfwood, and at the later description of him playing guitar in the background during the concert (looks like he changed his mind about doing the song after all). One has to take these moments of humor where one can get them. :D
