Oh gosh it's not finished. Oh my goodness and at such a turnaround point ! Absolutely brilliant, magnificent fanfiction, and I hope that some day we can read more of it. It's an absolute masterpiece that one, you're a storyline genius and an incredibly good writer ! Such finesse in the emotions, in the darkness, in some questions that plague my mind as well ! And still the more we read, and the more grey all of it seems.
You are brilliant, and this is definitely one of my favorite fanfictions ever. And I've been reading them for more then 10 years, so it's getting harder and harder to actually shake up my favourites like that.
Congratulations on your story, I hope you are still enjoying writing and still can find the time to do so. Be it in fanfictions or books, because you are absolutely brilliant at it and I hope that nothing goes in the way of your creativity.
I'll check your profile to try and see if you are a published author outside of fanfiction as well; I am rarely reading actual books these days outside of useful ones... I turn to fanfictions for fun/imagination reading, but I'd definitely have a look out for your books if you wrote any !
I'm really impressed of your take at the kind of subtle manipulation Tom is wielding, and everyone's transformation around it. Very very realistic, and incredibly grey indeed.

I agree. If he was SOOO brilliant, it's quite easy to stun a twelve year old. and Even if he couldn't he could have when Fawkes finished healing him since he was groggy and barely conscious. Then he has leverage with the Light, someone to play mind games with, and the hero of the wizarding world who defeated his older self. Think of all the research!

Hermonine is right. Also, I doubt magic is weaker due to lack of purity. Genocide and witch hunts are barley comparable in scale or damage. Witches and wizards openly intermingled with muggles preceding witch hunts, and likely bred with them too.

If anything, extreme inbreeding, loss of magical land(and its inhabitants) due to human explotation, and the loss if magical knowledge caused it.

Not to mention, could just be a "good ol days" bias, distortion of history(they belive myths and tales to a higher degree and see reality where is only fiction), or just notable wizards giving the wrong idea of wizardkind.
