*sobs* WHY DO YOU HAVE TO KILL ME LIKE THIS? That but at the end...mince alors...ohmygosh this is superb. I just LOVED the ending. And thats so in character. Poor ubderappreciated Sydney. He is wunderful.

I love, love, love this-I think you understand Carton so well . . .
So many lovely details, like the ones at the opening-how like Carton to sit apart from the others, and the bit about his hands shaking from alcohol withdrawal is perfect-realistic and also evidence of what he goes through in order to visit this family. The part about Darnay looking like a happy version of himself-so poignant.
I love the interaction between little Lucie and Carton; they do have that wonderful intuitive sympathy. It's as if he were friends with a child-version of Lucie Manette, thus avoiding the complications of thwarted romance . . .
Ah, the irony of that last line!
May I sound like another Dickens character and ask, please, for more?
