| LunaBianca chapter 8 . 1/29
Wow. Seeing into Ichigo's thoughts during the fight with Grand Fisher, his realizations about what he himself is embracing or could turn into, and how he breaks free from the guilt he's chained himself to, makes this encounter so very powerful. Same with the way you take the graveside conversation with Isshin further. A lot of stirring emotion.
I also like the dynamic between Ichigo and Rukia. The nuances add up to make me respect each of them even more.
| LunaBianca chapter 7 . 1/29
Nice job expanding the conversations Ichigo has with Rukia (she tells Ichigo he wouldn't have killed his mom, instead of just thinking it after the fact) and Isshin (addressing the manipulation and paranoia verbally, thinking about who's doing/not doing the fathering).
One part concerning Masaki really grabbed me: "She was one of those people who, in retrospect, you can't believe was actually real. Like my childhood was a dream. And then one day, it ended." Ah, the feels! It's like a sucker punch.

Still enjoying the story! Thanks for showing Rukia's "sadness and determined defiance" so well, and Ichigo's perception of said.
Laughed over Rukia's outburst about liking rabbits! And the contrast in physical feeling when Ichigo uses soul candy versus Rukia's glove...that is interesting.
| LunaBianca chapter 4 . 1/28
I enjoy seeing Ichigo and Rukia getting acquainted. There's awkwardness and secrecy, instinctual insults and physicality, surprise and cynicism. They are both vying for the upper hand (with each other, themselves, new realities) and yet making an effort to understand one another.
Another good song selection. :)
| LunaBianca chapter 3 . 1/28
The original content you weave into the story has emotional impact and snags me more than just Ichigo's inner monologue alone: how the Kurosakis and visitors react to Masaki's picture; Ichigo's thoughts on and past interactions with his school friends; Rukia trying to wield modern slang; Ochi-sensei checking on Ichigo, and the konso of Enzeru that spread a warm prickly feeling in my chest and throat.
The song/band you lead the chapter with are also favorites of mine. ;)
| LunaBianca chapter 2 . 1/28
This is fantastic. It's the manga fleshed out in a way that's plausible and visceral. I like how you take canon scenes and conversations and shift them slightly to illuminate: psyche, history, relationships.
The prose is tight and clean, it hums along and is suspenseful even though I know the major plot points to come. I'm keen to see how you develop characters beyond Ichigo, and how much of that comes through, narrated as it is by Ichigo. (I do like this Ichigo, by the way; I just would love to get into the mind of more than one person, as you're doing such a bang up job with him. *wink*)
This first chapter blew me away and I eagerly anticipate the rest. Thanks for writing.

| Tentative chapter 1 . 9/22/2013
I must admit, I am not much of a fan of song fics. That being said, you come recommended from an interesting author therefore I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps you'll hear from me later.
| MrSlinkerman chapter 14 . 9/20/2013
A good end to a good story. I should get to that sequel soon.
You know, i never really stopped to think about the fact that Urahara did actually kill Ichigo during his training. Just because he successfully became a shinigami again doesn't change the fact that he's sorta dead...
Man, the amount of attitude coming from Zangetsu is unreal. I love it.

I'm so happy you kept in the part about Tessai laying on top of Ichigo. That was one of the funniest parts of the entire series
It looks like you took down the link to the blog post. Shame. I was interested in reading it.

I really liked the bit about what genres he likes. It would have been cool if you did a part about what series' he enjoys.
| MrSlinkerman chapter 11 . 9/6/2013
The part I love the most about this chapter is how Ichigo notices that Byakuya's threat to cut off his arm was kinda stupid. Sure, it sounds menacing but he's already dying so who cares?
| MrSlinkerman chapter 10 . 9/6/2013
Goddamn. You are ridiculously good at describing both emotions and abstract powers. Seriously, I've only seen a handful of authors on this site that can do it as well as you do.
You did a great job of describing Ichigo's strategy for fighting the menos. That was really the first time In the series where Ichigo just acted like a complete dumbass but you made his plan sound reasonable.
| MrSlinkerman chapter 9 . 9/2/2013
This chapter was pretty funny. The fight at the old hospital was probably the funniest part of the first arc and you captured it really well. I also like how you kept the humor intact while keeping it from going over the top. While the exaggerated antics work well in the manga, it wouldn't have carried over into text form very well.
I'm still not entirely sure how Ichigo used his reiatsu wall to keep the hollow from completely disappearing though. Add physics of the dead to the growing list of things Kubo never explained too well.
| EmptySurface chapter 2 . 8/28/2013
Wow...this was... This is amazing. I love how realistically you have made this. At first, I was a little skeptical about the... what's it called? The way you're telling the story from Ichigo's perspective. I've read many stories like that, but it's hard to pull of. I must say, you've done just that; perfectly! I'm looking forward to read the next chapter! You are a really brilliant writer. I love all the... damn it, I can't remember that word either! I blame the late hour. Anyway, I like the likenesses? you make. Like how the thug's arms swung faintly reminding him of a gorilla.
I also find myself fascinated by the slightly darker past you given Ichigo, but truth be told, it's isn't impossible. I'm eager to see how you write out the rest!
