|Reviews for 413 The Sword in the Stone, Additional Scenes|
| clh chapter 1 . 7/28/2016
I don't think this in an improvement at all over the way it went in the show.
First of all, I don't like the extension of the first scene because it made perfect sense in the show for Arthur to have second thoughts about wanting to get back together with Guinevere and I wouldn't have bought it if he'd forgiven her too easily as he does here. It made a lot more sense for it to take something drastic like seeing Tristan lose Isolde to death for him to decide to give their relationship another chance. Also I don't like Gwen's response. She comes off as a bit selfish in a roundabout kind of way. It's like, I'm going to punish myself for hurting you by hurting you some more.
I'm glad your second scene wasn't in the show for two reasons. Firstly, it doesn't make sense for Morgana to admit to Gwen and Arthur that Gwen didn't really cheat on him. All it does is give them a reason to get back together and undoes all her hard work in driving them apart. Even if she thinks she's going to kill them I think she's vindictive enough that she would want them to die believing Gwen unfaithful. Also I don't think she's want to risk it, just in case something went wrong. Secondly, if it had been done this way in the show it would have taken the focus off of the beautiful scene where Arthur tries to appeal to the person Morgana used to be and she rebuffs him. Since this is their first face to face meeting since he found out she was a traitor, this is what the scene should be about, not Arthur and Gwen. Sure, you kept that part in, but it would taken away from the potency of it to upstage it with all that other stuff.
I get your wanting them to find out Gwen was enchanted, but doing it this way wouldn't have made any sense. A part of me does want them to have found out (in a way that made actual sense), but another part of me thinks it's an even stronger testament to their love that they were able to somehow get past it even without knowing. It sucks for Lancelot, of course, but that one's sort of on Gaius for telling Merlin not to bother telling Arthur he was a shade and on Merlin for listening to him.

just found tis story. I do agree that these scenes were needed to make sense of some of the story. The writers just seem to leave things hanging in the show.
Good job, thanks for helping to tie up the loose ends

I couldn't agree with you more! The way the writers handled this whole situation was way to fast for my liking. Thank you for this lovely piece.

they(merlin writers) should take pointers from you.

This was cute and your right. The chances of them speaking of the bracelet again are slim. I would have liked for the producers to give more time into the make up between Arthur and Gwen. More Angst on Gwen's side. Arthur never has to fight for Gwen, not really. Anyway, this was nice.

Excellent A! Sigh...if only we could've had this resolution and closure on the show! The Gwen I love, my Gwen would have said no to Arthur's proposal because of her own principles and strong moral compass so thank you for this!
Am still holding out for the continuation of your S4. :) Thank you for sharing A! )

Grr, I submitted before finishing.
Anyway, as I was saying. My hope is now restored and am looking forward to more from you...even if it's just a scene here and there.
As for this update; I loved the dialogue between A/G, Morgana's lines and the new additional scene with Merlin/Arthur! Brill!

Wow! It has been ages! I didn't think I would ever see a story from you again! So happy to see an alert for your new scenes. And what a lovely series of additional scenes they were! The voices, as always, were brilliantly written. You have the talent, my friend.
My hope is now restored, and I am l

Somehow I get the feeling ARWEN love will be truly tested in Season 5 since the "betrayal" issue hasn't been resolved with Arthur still not trusting and believing in Gwen's innocence and with Gwen feeling guilty about something she is entirely blameless and for committing a heinous crime for which she had no control over! It's as if the writers, producers, and the directors LOVE to sustain Guinevere's reputation as that of the adulterous one of legend! Talk about originality and adding their own twist! This is NOT original as Gwen was NOT portrayed as a brainless, blonde, airhead in the series to begin with! Have they seen the movie King Arthur with Keira Knightley as Guinevere? She is far far far from the infamously wanton British whore of legend. If the writers indicated that ARWEN is the love story then why are they doing everything in their power to deviate from that path? They tainted Gwen's good name and virtuous reputation so she could be vilified and portrayed as not being worthy of Arthur's love. Terrible writers. If only they could look at your story. It'll put them to shame and hopefully out of a job for the way their handling the ARWEN scenes!
Love your version of ARWEN moments! If only Arthur had more time to declare his undying love for Gwen! Damn those lousy writers again!
