Shikamaru is lil shit but a good kid internally. And Naruto knows she bothers him but isn't fully certain how to fix that to make him more at ease. It's nice that he cares even tho he doesn't want to and seems to be striving to be a proper friend for her because he wants to be. Because he sees how wrong everyone else is.
