First playtrough of ME3 got me because Grunt didn't survive this very mission. Being one of my favorite character alongside Garrus, him dying was a real downer, even if he didn't took part in the rest of the game(no citadel DLC yet).
Then the years went by and I stumbled upon your works, and naturally I gravitated towards Mother's Tears...
It brought me back to the same moment, the same head cannon(mine was not so visceral and painful... what the mind does, huh?).
Now I get to re-read this piece again, and again, and after sometime, once more.
This is the relationship I thought Shepard and Grunt should have in the game itself. Just never got exact image in my head as the how it became like this and I cursed at BW for not doing better with such enormous realstate.
Now, after advancing trough your works, I know, and it feels awesome.
And I thank you and sorry, I should've done this a long time ago.
This is a Beautiful, Beautiful story, a nice change of pace in regards to the other stories in your library and one of your finest works.

Oh my god this is beautiful

I read this not longer after starting a new run of ME, and it has forever shifted the way I think of Fem!Shep and Grunt's relationship. And when the part of the game this fic is based on happens, I even add in the "Mother, please" line in my own head because there's enough pause for him to say it. I wish there was a mod that actually inserted that dialogue.

A late review for an old favourite.

A very good story. Made my eyes watery...

So well done. And I liked how Garrus killed the Ravager at the end, when he said “Oh, (bleep) you!” and shot it dead with an Avenger assault rifle. Sounds like he, along with many others who has done that mission, has had enough of the acid spewing Ravagers in the caves.

This story inspired more emotion than in the game itself, shows how good it is.
