ooh i actually liked Stella in this one, I am trilled that she involved Fraser and i really hope that they can help her.
| vic32 chapter 2 . 6/18/2012
I really love Ray in this and you make me want to hug him. Thank god for a friend like Fraser i hope he can be there when/If Stella storms again.
| vic32 chapter 1 . 6/18/2012
Wonderful first chapter, I love Ray like this its shows his passion. As for that woman i could slap her myself.
| Tatau chapter 11 . 6/10/2012
Oh God, I loved, loved, loved the whole thing about hitching a ride. From the scene in which Fraser assesses the situation and pulls Ray aside by bodily force to the moment the next truck stops immediately for Stella XD
And I am – again and as always – very much in love with the way you portray Stella. Her difficulty with being grateful for the help and accepting the role as victim… wonderful and spot on.
Oh. This was a great observation: iTough love, they called it, didn't they? Allowing an alcoholic to suffer the consequences of their drunkenness. To hit rock bottom so they knew they needed help/i
And I think I will have to appropriate that for my ongoing project – with your permission, of course :-) But I think you just gave me something that Ray will have to realize in a different way, that you can’t help someone who believes he doesn’t need any help.
Consider me awed.
I really liked the sneaking references to Western movies that you fit into this part. Very sly :-) First the hat and then the movie on TV. Also a nice touch how you added so many details, like how Packer chose not to watch the adult entertainment channel.
Hahahahaha, the poor receptionist finding herself faced with three “very disreputable looking individuals” was pure gold.
iKowalski walked up to him, grinning like a kid on Christmas morning. "You, Packer, are under arrest."/i
Awwww, isn’t he cute? And really very fitting that you should use the ‘gunless’ reference – and another nice nod to the Western tradition.
You really tip your hat to all the grea genre traditions, huh? iThe image of Ray as a slightly battered knight errant appealed to her/i
Did you know that the hard-boiled genre is based on the knight’s quest? ;) Fits Ray rather well again.
And the whole scene tugged at my heart strings. The way he seems to be looking for a word and then isn’t, just embarrassed, and… just… oh, Ray… and oh, Stella
Also a very satisfying conclusion with Steve enabling them to nail the mobsters. Very due South this solution :D
This sentence made choke up iShe knew that look. She knew all his looks/i
A very, very, very great way to end this story. And the ending made me smile, all warm and fuzzy.

i That Kowalski of hers, he must have put her off men./i
Hahaha, that really made me grin because I thought what does that tell us if Ray is suddenly hot for Canadian Mounties?
I think you did an awesome job on the varying emotions waging war inside of Steven. Assured – wondering – back to the man in control who knew everything – to berating himself for losing his chance – only to turn around on himself yet again to reprimand himself for losing his head inow/i
This was a very sneaky statement i If there was one truth he clung to/i Stating – from his perspective what he believes to be the truth – and at the same time insinuating with the help of the 3rd person narrator that he only “clung” to it, that it wasn’t fixed or even anything really existent because we all cling to a hope or something elusive and usually ephemeral
i "Great. Have you ever considered that... shit, I can't breathe... have you ever considered... ah... that car's go a lot... ah... faster than people, and they might... ahha... be thirty miles away?"/i
XD very gentle way of Ray to break this to Fraser XD What was it? He’s only city fit and his idea of health was coffee without sugar?
I *loved* this interaction:
i"Didn't realise what?"
"That you are woefully out of condition."/i
Because it’s this sneaky way that Fraser has of saying stuff where you don’t know whether he’s actually teasing Ray or being funny or if he really is simply stating this innocent observation.
Oooooh, very hard-boiled this setting of the scene: i There was a distant rumble of thunder, and it started to rain.i :D
Stella’s surprise at Fraser’s worse-for-wear-look reminded me again that this is another similarity they share. There’s never a hair out of place on her beautiful head either.
And brilliant, brilliant they way Steven charmed his way back into that hotel room. He really is an ace at manipulating women.
Now let's see what's for showdown :D
| dS-Tiff chapter 11 . 6/9/2012
The image of a soaking wet Fraser, Ray and Dief is very dS! I thought Ray trying to stop and truck (and having to be saved by Fraser) was brilliant :)
I just love Stella and Ray when it's all over and oh...he wrote her poems :)
And poor Fraser, actually getting ill and then having the Vecchio women fussing over him! Hilarious!
Thank you so much for writing this story. We do have fun bouncing ideas around don't we :)
| dS-Tiff chapter 10 . 6/9/2012
Oh Packer is so manipulative and wicked and yet so stupid at the same time! I loved Ray getting out of breath trying to keep up with Fraser and Dief and eventually rescuing Stella.
