A fitting tribute the Admiral!
I liked "...her lips tightly sealed by the years of instinct branded into her skin."
And, of course, "Checkmate, bitch."

If for only that image of her father's golden bird, this story is worth it. Thank you!

| CrlkSeasons chapter 1 . 5/4/2012
The Borg Queen, a greedy black widow spider, never satiated, never satisfied, always hungry for more voices, hungry for more lives. Admiral Janeway in her ultimate moment of triumph even though under assault by the nanoprobes that are pouring through her veins with "a ferocity akin to a flame ... devouring her individuality".
You've given your readers a highly effective depiction of the final moments of these long time opponents, culminating in a lovely image of Kathryn Janeway as her father's golden bird once more.
| Alpha Flyer chapter 1 . 5/4/2012
A brilliant study of two adversaries locked in the final combat, and a worthy ending for the Admiral. My favourite image was "bringing chaos to order" - a beautiful metaphor for creativity, ingenuity and the politics of rigid thinking. Well done.

You did her justice; it was exactly what the Admiral needed. And I must say what I needed too - I always loved the Golden Bird nickname, and here you have actually set her free as one. Thanks :-)

I liked this. It was dark and you could really feel the Admirals fear but I love her triumph with wings - Q or Angels?

Positively thrilled to read another work of yours. As always, you have given us a chillingly beautiful glimpse into a moment that may have seemed a bit overwhelmed with the spasms of green spiders and ripping off of limbs (i.e. CG show-offs).
Fabulous imagery tucked and pleated through this piece, however brief it may be. Some particular favorites include "unctuous mercury" and "black eyes ripe with pride." I am thoroughly satisfied and looking forward to your next foray into the Delta Quadrant. You are a marvelous writer; please, never stop!
