You're one of the best writers in this entire site.
If not, THE best.

Ah. Never mind.

What if this was the sorcerer's plan?
What if... he goes back and kills the real Arthur, like in his vision, and it turns out he WAS enchanted? What if Arthur dies because of him?

This is honestly one of the most beautiful Merlin fics out there. I can see why so many people list it as a rec. You manage to keep all the characters believable and in character. And there was plenty of Lancelot and Gwaine (my two favourites of the knights) so that was a big plus. Arthur's and Merlin's thought processes when they thought the other was dead brought me to tears a couple of times.
At first, I was actually hoping that this would be a story to fit into the canon and not a reveal fic (you did such a beautiful job with the flashbacks in "Past and Present Danger") but I think you outdid yourself. The reveal here is now my favourite one. So many reveal fics have Arthur almost immediately reacting angrily as compared to the confused/devastated initial reaction here which I felt was a refreshing change.
While I KNEW you were probably going to end the story happily, I really was starting to think that Merlin would be sacked which goes to show how wonderfully unpredictable the plot was. I also rather liked the point you brought up about how there wouldn't even be a trust issue if it wasn't for the Pendragons' prejudice of magic, which I'm a little surprised I haven't yet come across in other reveal fics. The epilogue banter was hilarious and adorable, and was something we as fans were totally robbed of with the last episode (that''s of course a big part of why I read so much fanfiction.) I usually don't say quite this much in review comments but your story had my mind and emotions in overdrive. Just, thank you for this great story.

Another absolutely amazing story and so completely unique! I simply couldn't stop reading. I'm not sure how you come up with such original ideas or how you seem to so effortlessly mold them into such amazing stories, but I hope you continue to do so!

I like this. You alluded to it in an earlier chapter as well. All your stories are long, which I love, but I wouldn't mind seeing a short companion piece to explain "For whatever reason, Leon had bought the story with no questions."

Wonderful, fantastic, beautiful! Thanks!

I love Arthur's thought process.
Magic was evil; Merlin was not evil. Magic corrupted its users; Merlin was not corrupt. ...
The thought was quickly interrupted by another. ...
Magic was a mystery; Merlin was a mystery. ... Magic was clever; Merlin was clever.

I love how Arthur can't refute this!
'Merlin is not the Prince of Camelot. Your allegiance is to me, not him.'
'Sire,' he pressed quietly, 'everybody knows that if they ally themselves with Merlin then they ally themselves with you.'
