What i beautiful and poetic journey you are showing us. You can feel all their emotions and their incapacity to change things for the better right now. You said the story would be 8/10 chapters so i'm guessing the story will end when Mary wakes up.

I'm confused about one thing, why wouldn't they move Mary to her own bedroom instead of the bedroom that Matthew occupied? Matthew stayed in that room because he didn't have his own assigned room in that house but Mary does and even if it's higher up or further from the entrance of the house they should have moved her to a place where she would be and feel more comfortable.

The palpable suspense is keeping me on edge. I love the silence of it all, it amplifies the tension. Everything so far is contributing so well to the build up and the emotions come through so perfectly. Amazing start, can't wait to see how it all goes!
