![]() ![]() ![]() Boy, this Lackey is a real piece of work. Sounds like he never bothered to find out if Newkirk had actually stole that money, but just assumed from his past that he was guilty. And poor Carter is caught between a rock and a hard place having overheard enough to know what the problem is between his friend and Lackey, and the way Newkirk is acting right now. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I loved how Newkirk loosen the handcuffs genuis for the man of many talents to do ,but iwas it wise to further iritate the Gestapo General! What is Lackey's distain for and I hope Colonel can put a stop to it before He causes real trouble for Newkirk! I SENSE THE TENSION RISING and I cannot wait to see what happens next Excellent chapter. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Loved how Newkirk was able to get free of the handcuffs without the guard noticing anything. And the look on the General's face when he saw Newkirk sitting down and later uncuffed was priceless. Glad Hogan's mission was successful with the explosives. Here's hoping he and the men can get those lists and films. I am also worried about what this General has in store for Newkirk as I don't think we've seen the last of him. I also hope Hogan is gonna ring Lackey's neck when he confronts him in the tunnels. I've a feeling he won't, but a person can dream, can't she? |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm really enjoying this story! So much that I MAY try to read your French version. I've studied French off and on over the years (more off than on recently), so I'll probably have to look up every other word in the dictionary, but I'm finding myself impatient to learn what happens next. Great story! |
![]() ![]() ![]() WOW! Newkirk has gotten into a huge"stickey wicket " of a situation with the gestapo Generalbut even though he is chained to the cooler outside he was still able to send the message to the Colonel by way of a French song to Lebeau! that was a fabulous idea on Newkirk's part. I did not like Lackey before and now I dispise him for his insulting attitude towards Newkirk! No wonder Newkirk just barely tolerates the man but he has to for the sake of the mission. I'm really enjoying this story and thanks again for the translate! |
![]() ![]() ![]() How wonderful this story is in honor of Richard Dawson and his portrayal of Cpl. Newkirk. RIP going, Newkirk! What a brilliant idea to put what he saw in those crates into a song only LeBeau would be able to understand as it was sung in French. And I suspected, like Hogan, that 'cockney' was an insult. I can't wait for Hogan to put this Captain in his place, especially after his joyous reaction to seeing Newkirk chained up outside as he was. Wonder what those films and pictures are of? Am really enjoying this story. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Poor Newkirk. A very well-written and tense chapter. Glad that Newkirk got to see what was in those crates even though this Gestapo General had other ideas which differed from Klink' 's hoping Hogan can find out what Newkirk saw despite not being able to get near Newkirk. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Very tense chapter but beautifully executed especially when Newkirk readily volunteers to get to the cooler . Like Hogan turns it over to him but the outcome of their scheme didn't play out as it would have against Klink . Newkirk did get to see what it was but with the Generals tact of punishment it will be difficuly to relay the message . Hogan has limited time to get the information Excellent chapter I'm anixious ti see what developes next! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wonderfully written chapter! All of the characters are so well written its like viewing a section from the show! Beginning with the special development of Carters friendship with Newkirk .We know that Colonel Hogan not only has a very important mission but it looks like he'll have his hands full with Lackey! The scene with Kinch and Newkirk was extremely funny(LOL) and a perfect ice breaker to get Newkirk back into the circle of his scene! But all fun aside I have a very strong feeling that things will get worse before everything falls into place for our beloved Corporal! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this chapter .Now I cannot wait to see what takes place in the next chapter! |
![]() ![]() ![]() The opening interaction between Carter and Newkirk is really well done, particularly in how you show Carter as perceptive enough to recognize the real feelings that his friend is trying to cover over. He's endearingly clumsy with his apology; Newkirk sees that but inadvertantly hurts Carter in return and offers his own brand of apology, very true to character. Hogan seems very much in form as well, first in his discussion of the mission with his men (loved the joke on how to follow the sequence of London's instructions) and the hilarious scene with poor Klink as he wangles the information he needs out of him. The dinner scene is also beautifully structured, balancing Newkirk's worries about his comrades' reactions with their unquestioning support, and the great comparison between the game Newkirk and Kinch play in assuming roles for their little play and Newkirk's role-playing after Lackey appears. With an unknown Gestapo general about to arrive and the conflict between Newkirk and Lackey still a mystery, the story is ratcheting up its tension very pleasurably! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is a beautifully crafted chapter with such an air of authenticity that it's a shame you didn't get to write it in 1965-71! There is so much I like about it that it is hard to list it all but I will single out a few things. The opening scene is perfect - you captured Newkirk in his favorite repose, with such insight. The thoughts running throu his head capture his hurt, his isolation, and his sense of humor, and you conveyed so much with simple gestures like breathing in the tobacco and patting the ground. You could feel the poor guy trying to steady himself! The scene with Klink and Hogan was note-perfect, and I loved the dialogue building up to the line "you mean you don't like me?" and your wonderful description of his facial expression. The scene with Newkirk trying to keep to the edge of the action also displayed perfect pitch - it was totally credible that he would hang back but get drawn in by his friends sand his insightful colonel. Finally, after Lackey joins the group, I like the way you describe Newkirk as playing a part - even when he shuts down, his instincts as a performer are strong. Oh, and how could I skip the scene with Kinch and Newkirk imitating Klink and Hogan - hilarious! Well done! This is my favorite "new" story. Keep going! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Newkirk is so fortunate to have a good friend like Carter who will not abandon him no matter how many insults Newkirk may toss his way as he did when Carter admitted he thought the Captain seemed like a 'nice guy.' And Hogan's got his hands full with Lackey, Newkirk, maintaining the peace between them as well as resolving the problem between them, and the upcoming mission. LeBeau made a good point when Olsen said Newkirk's reaction to Lackey was extreme about Newkirk being private. I have a feeling things are gonna get worse before they get better. |
![]() ![]() Well being that I'm studying Spanish as my foreign language and not French(sorry but out here in California knowing Spanish is really important from all the latinos who moved here) I'm glad to see this story in English. Sounds pretty good and the translation isn't half bad. I mean the grammar is correct I think but I admit some parts of it don't quite...flow as easily as a native speaker..but that may just be from the translation. Translation is always a bit akward. Anyway thanks! |
![]() ![]() Yay! Happy to see this! Great work, you two! |
