As soon as I saw Memorial Day as the title, I knew you'd picked John. A very moving story, with a message that we all need to hear. I liked John's line - "I was little more than a vengeful spirit."

I love the emotional progression here...from despair over the past to hope and a purpose for the future. Excellent. - Wendie

First off, I love the title and the whole idea behind your drabble. Wow. Second, such great insight into John's psyche here. Him seeing himself as a little more than a vengeful spirit is something I've never really thought about before, but it certainly rings true.
Great response to the challenge.
