| Paladin Willa chapter 1 . 7/2/2016
aawwww! how sweet!
| Number Girl chapter 1 . 3/14/2016
I wish more people could read this, or stories just like it. Perhaps they would realize that their ghosts and nightmares of the past that haunt their dreams don't make them weak or inferior. The nights they wake paralyzed with fear and tears streaming down, or shrieking awake from some horror in a cold sweat, that it's okay.
Some things are never truly "gotten over", like awful incidents, images, or experiences.
No matter the form of PTSD, be it from war or otherwise, it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's scary as hell, because it IS hell, but confronting the issue, talking about it, asking for help is the only way it'll start getting better, just like Halt said.
This stuff isn't shameful.
It's the mark of a Hero, no matter who you are.

A good story, just the right amount of angst to make it heartbreaking.
| Bralt chapter 1 . 6/6/2012
This was amazing. Usually these types of fics have a whole mess of mush and things like this but this one stayed pretty well away with that. You had Halt excellent even in this situation where he has to show he has weaknesses. Great job
| Mychele O'Carrik of Clonmel chapter 1 . 6/6/2012
Wow, amazing! I mean that! The quality of your stories continues to amaze me. You made Halt sympathetic and careing without going all fluffy and OOC. In fact, I like to think of Halt's vulnerable and caring side not as somthing that the writer has to bend him to and make it work, but it's as important and IC part of him as the gruffness and distemper. Both of which, I might add, you incorperated into this story. I applaud you for cracking the code to Halt; not many have done that.:)It's as if you actually met Halt and had a meeting to discuss this story with him. XD
"Halt rolled his eyes, reflecting on young love, and told himself the reason he surreptiously glanced at his reflection in a shiny pot was not because he might run into Pauline, but because he had to look presentable for the baron." Hmm, I think Halt can't see the forest for the trees. -. lol! Excellant job, as always. Instant fave for me. :3
