The small number of words you use here certainly pack an emotional punch. Brennan's dismay at not understanding, and her frustration at not being able to understand "by now", is upsetting to read. She understands just fine in my book...and no way she could see the Pelant ultimatum coming.

Can I just say that Angela's reminder to Booth about the way he was with Brennan made me miss the show. I loved the teasing, the jealousy, the way he found reasons to touch her and be close to her. Oh, and this: "...she was ahead of him, as she always was, and he felt the chase." - I can just picture the look on his face in that moment. Damn you. Really, damn you...I need to go watch "Aliens in a Spaceship" right NOW!

This was brilliant! I loved it so hard, as my daughter would say. This: "the days that anticipation still overcame the heartache of restraint." Oh yes, because it wasn't the heartache alone that kept us watching for 7 years! And then the execution at the end. Just awesome. I will definitely be reading this one over. 3sq.

That was EXACTLY what I thought after the premiere- they couldn't really go back, but they were definitely moving forward again. It was what I hoped would be true, and I dreaded that it wouldn't be, which is why I put off watching until now. The actors still seem to be having trouble pretending their UST is now resolved when in reality, it isn't, but atleast DB is looking at her again - and that brings us back to why the show is so damned incredible every time. He can't seem to pretend when he looks at her. And the last season even though it had the potential to be better in bits, was a bit flat because of the whole 'I (dart a quick glance at Brennan) love you (glance away, glance back, glance away laugh chaste kiss) Bones'. And back to zero eye contact. I miss their unspoken eye convers(ex)ations. And I'm glad that Booth told her there are things Angela doesn't understand, because no one but the two of them ever could. And after reading this, awash in a flood of nostalgia, I'm thinking kick Sweets out and bring Zack back. This means you've evoked the right feel ;)

I loved everything about this, but especially this:

This is beautifully written. I can honestly imagine Brennan seeing idleness as a threat. I wonder, aside from writing her novels, if before her relationship with Booth turned into what they have now, if she ever really let herself imagine a future beyond the day to day. Maybe not. Maybe when she lost her parents she stopped imagining happy endings because it was too hard, too elusive, too much like a waste of her time. But then there was Booth, and Christine, and Parker, and love in plentiful supply.
