Reviews for Brotherhood Of The Lost
Guest chapter 1 . 4/6
A deer has acute hearing and keen eyesight so it may have been aware of predators such as wolves or a bear stalking the forest. Also deer have learned to avoid humans and always flee at the slightest noise or scent.
Guest chapter 8 . 10/4/2014
They need to start moving. Another blizzard could arrive soon. They're still very weak. If a predator attacks now, they don't stand a chance.
Guest chapter 7 . 10/4/2014
Even if they succumb to the harsh cold and die eventually predators will dig them up and feast. After all it's the circle of life.
Guest chapter 6 . 10/4/2014
Well wolves don't venture onto the prairies but flat open terrain like the plains are home to animals like bison.

These are big powerful creatures. An adult male bison stands over six feet tall and weighs up to two thousand pounds.

These are herd animals. If they spook one, the entire herd stampedes. Once they start running, the herd are unstoppable. The pair could get trampled to death.

Plus their horns are formidable. Even a pack of wolves struggles to overpower a healthy adult bison. Also bison are fiercely protective of their calves.
Guest chapter 5 . 10/4/2014
The river water could contain deadly parasites that could ravage his body and potentially kill him if they enter his bloodstream. Also the water may have been contaminated by animals or small traces of metallic toxins dumped in the water.
Guest chapter 5 . 10/4/2014
An emotional outburst like the one Carlos had only serves as a beacon to hungry animals. Wolves have excellent hearing and can pinpoint noise from great distances. They'll track the two with ease.
Guest chapter 5 . 10/4/2014
An emotional outburst like the one Carlos had would only serve as a beacon to wild carnivores. Animals like wolves have excellent hearing. They can detect and pinpoint noise over great distances.

They could run but wolves can easily keep pace. They're capable of incredible stamina and will pursue prey for many miles over all kinds of terrain until the prey collapses from exhaustion and no longer has the energy to fight. Then they descend on the victim.
Guest chapter 8 . 10/4/2014
The wolf's thick woolly coat insulates it against the bitter cold while its guard hairs keep out moisture. The black bear hibernate to conserve energy and build up fat reserves beforehand.

Squirrels stay warm by curling up with others in their nests. White tailed deer survive due to their fur coats
Guest chapter 6 . 10/4/2014
When you enter the forest, you enter the animals' domain. The vast untamed wilderness is their territory not ours. They're adapted for these conditions.

Mankind has the intelligence but lacks the physical adaptations to survive in an environment like this. The wolf, black bear, white tailed deer and snapping turtle know where to find food, how to keep warm and how to defend themselves or avoid attack.
Guest chapter 5 . 10/4/2014
I knew there was probably a valid reason those berries were left untouched by the local wildlife. Not even the squirrels ate them despite nuts and berries being the mainstay of their diet.

Any animal consuming the fruit would be severely weakened and easy prey for carnivores.
Guest chapter 5 . 10/3/2014
Well there are only two species of venomous snake in the region but snapping turtles live in the rivers and lakes and can be dangerous. Fishing should be done with caution.
Guest chapter 4 . 10/3/2014
Carnivores can sense weakness and illness . The pack of wolves are bound to pick up their scent and start tracking the pair and follow them to the point of exhaustion before launching their attack.
Guest chapter 3 . 10/3/2014
Those berries are very likely to be toxic. The bright colour serves as a warning to herbivores to stay away. A strong dose of toxins could kill them although a similar dose might just temporarily disable a larger animal like a stag or a moose.
Guest chapter 3 . 10/3/2014
There is no way a human being could overpower a healthy adult wolf with his hands. The average wolf can weigh close to a hundred and ten pounds and a lone wolf is still able to overpower and kill any animal up to the size of a German shepherd dog.
Guest chapter 2 . 10/3/2014
Three wolves do not comprise a pack. Those were probably scouting for prey and the injured wolf is bound to alert the whole pack and lead them straight to the location.

The scent of blood serves as a beacon to the keen nose of the wolf and leads it to the pair as the others follow it.

The pack would surround them and cut off any escape then snap and nip to wear them down until exhaustion takes over and the wolves close in for the kill
