Thank you so much for continuing this story! Every new chapter makes my day, or my week, as I often go back and re-read the last few bits.
Your exploration of motives and cost and consequences is so much fun, and adds so much depth and meaning to this world.
Thank you. ️

Hi! Long-time anonymous follower of your stories here! I'm finally reviewing because I thought it was time to express my gratitude first for the many enjoyable hours your fiction has afforded me and second because this is the only Snape story I've ever read that absolutely nails the character! (Also, finally seeing this update after a couple weeks of bad internet brightened tremendously the crappy week I've been having.) I also love how you show Neville's character development here as I've always been frustrated by the lack of Neville scenes in TDH showing him changing into the amazing warrior and man he is by the end of the series. So yeah...this is kinda my dream story. :D Thanks so much, again, and please please please update soon; your writing is just beautiful. :)

Great chapter, your story is one of the best i've ever read.
I like Neville and Snape as characters but there isn't much fan fiction about them so you can't imagine how happy I was when I found yours !
What can I say if not "please go on with your great fiction and see you next chapter !" ;)
(Sorry for the mistakes, I'm not a native speaker)

SO glad to see an update to this story! It's really amazing - and this chapter is just as wonderful as the previous ones. You write both Snape and Neville so well, with the dogged stubbornness and the stiff pride, and their interactions are a joy to read. Beautiful!

So, Neville finally knows more about Snape' task, huh? I still wonder if you'll change the original end of the book or if you'll end it with Snape's death. Surprisingly I don't know if I'd prefer the book version or if I'd prefer Snape surviving... not that I'll ever get to choose xDDD
Anyway, continue soon. I really like this story, especially Neville and Snape's interactions.

If saying Neville's name was supposed to activate the portkey, why didn't it activate when Snape said "Longbottom"? Because it wasn't the full name or because it wasn't the right voice?

We never see any DE but Snape use Sectumsempra in canon. It's a spell that seems particularly responsive to intent. When cast "directly at" James during SWM, it puts a minor and temporary slash in his cheek. When used by Harry, with typical over-enthusiasm, it slashes Draco to the bone, almost killing him. When cast by Snape during the Polyjuice chase, it accidentally amputates George's ear instead of a DE's arm. Perhaps it was invented for use as a substitute Potions knife, then re-purposed "For enemies" after the Marauders tried to kill him...
| duj chapter 9 . 10/31/2015
Erm, sorry, what I chiefly think is that Voldemort seems awfully available for these sessions, considering that in canon he was scouring the continent on the track of the Elder Wand. I'm just finding it hard to believe that he was interested enough in the goings-on at Hogwarts to bother trying to teach Snape a lesson. And given his words in the Shrieking Shack, when he complimented Snape on having been a good servant (just before he killed him), I also find it hard to believe he thought it necessary.
| duj chapter 8 . 10/31/2015
Well, we've never seen Narcissa fight, so it's possible she's that good, but Lucius can't be - unless we suppose he was deliberately holding back in the DoM fight. Besides which, at this point of the year, as far as we know he doesn't even have a wand any more. (If they'd had a stash of family wands, Narcissa wouldn't have needed to give hers to Draco after Harry took it in the escape from Malfoy Manor.) As for Draco, he's neither ruthless nor good at duelling. So it seems to me that Snape's trying to frighten Neville with paper tigers.
