|Reviews for All About Thorin|
| DownliftedAndUnderwhelmed chapter 66 . 10h ago
THIS IS SUBLIME!
Oh, I love Toren and Tourelle. The high epic prose. The lurid book-covers. The chainmail bikinis and furry loincloths. I would actually be very interested in reading those expurgated chapters! ;-)
And, well, it's not that I feel any sympathy for Dave, but I can see he'd go nuts during Elrond's well-meaning but dull rehabilitation programme! There's nothing like a good orc-raid from time to time to keep people on their toes!
| DownliftedAndUnderwhelmed chapter 65 . 11h ago
Aww. I can't get enough of poor sweet jealous Thorin.
And Elrond playing referee in Thranduil's domestic is hilarious.
Thranduil's backstory is sad, but also very believable - I'd be interested to find out more about the dynamics of Legolas' relationship with Gimli in light of all this.
But I really look forward to seeing Thranduil changing nappies! I wonder how he will cope. And will he keep his part of the bargain, or will he behave like a domineering arse?
| DownliftedAndUnderwhelmed chapter 64 . 2/25
Crikey, that's a really horrible situation poor Thorin finds himself in! And the threat of banishment is just terrible. But I love the fact that he gets a whole string of visitors, and that Thraduil saves the day, very stylishly, as ever. So he can be nice, he just doesn't like to admit it!
I enjoyed the bit where Ellandel lists everything that Thorin has contributel to Valinor - they really would be twiddling their thumbs if it wasn't for him! :-P

First of all: Mary-Sue is a stroke of genius. Wonderful, wonderful idea. But, and this is even more remarkable, you manage to make her AU a vivid miniature of gritty social realism. That Dave is a really nasty piece of work. Hope he gets his come-uppance!
Thorin and Arion can just about blend in, but their bearing and their speech subtly indicate that they are from another world altoghether. I had to laugh at the suggestion that they belong in a metal band. It's just so perfect! :-D
| norvegienne chapter 1 . 2/25
This is an awesome story. I have fallen in love with this fic.
Thorin is such a beautiful and an heroic dwarf. I think this dwarf prince has so much more to offer than any other dwarf in the trilogy.
Kili has been voted as "the hot dwarf" online. But i think hes too bit flirty in the trilogy.
Thorin shows more importance and even he is smitted by gold, i think he really inside is really compassionate. Such a charming prince who took care of his people and built a new life for them in the mountains.
And Tauriel is a wonderful character. And i really like she thinks different than her own race, but i dont like the idea of her being romantically in love with Kili.
If the writers of The Hobbit could put Tauriel with Thorin, it could make a true love story. That Thorin really would choose the most important things in life, a woman and children rather than silly glittered things like Arkenstone.
Anyway keep up this good work. This fanfiction story about Thorin is so fantastic, inspiring, challenging and quite sexy that it should be published as a book about the beautiful dwarf prince in a better life.
You are an excellent writer:-):-)

Dwarf rugby! Still recovering from the vision of a bunch of Dwarves in tight singlets running around enthusiastically after an Orc head (and grinding each other's faces into the mud)!
""Mud?" said Thranduil with a worried look."
I love the notion that everyone is just sitting arouns Valinor and getting fat.
This made my day. Thank you so much! (I don't suppose the sweaty top is still available?)
| DownliftedAndUnderwhelmed chapter 61 . 2/15
Oh my word! This is so priceless and vivid and colourful, I can't possibly list all that I found hilarious, or I'll end up quoting the whole chapter!
I loved the luvvie elves, especially the one who talks in Italics.
And the thing about the trilogy :-D
The auditions for the part of Tauriel were also splendid.
More, please, more!
| anna.pantelarou chapter 69 . 2/3
What about pregnant Rosie and the reaction to Poppy being Grandmother ant Thorin Great-grandfather? (I don't think they will cope very well at first thought :S)
| DownliftedAndUnderwhelmed chapter 60 . 2/2
Thorin is so adorable when he's feeling hard done by!
That cake sounds spectacular (one day I really should like to see the whole Company made of marzipan!).
And Thranduil's gift...well. It's typical Thranduil. :-P
| DownliftedAndUnderwhelmed chapter 58 . 2/2
I can just picture the puzzled look on Thorin's face, as he examines a handful of frilly underwear!
And "The Adventures of Toren and Tourelle" - with matching artwork - are pure genius. I'm so glad that we'll get to hear more about them! :-D

Oh, that was a lovely chapter. I really felt for Thrandy in this. It's easy to say that he shouldn't care what other's think and that his friends and family will accept his disfigurement regardless, but something like that would be very difficult to cope with and accept. His whole sense of self-worth is wrapped up in his outward appearance - as are most of us. I'm glad that his close friends saw the real him and showed him that it doesn't matter to them, especially Nennia.
Well, I'm really sorry to see the end of this fic but a huge congratulations on writing such a lovely, heartwarming, amusing and at times, sad story. It's surely been an epic endeavour. I've said before that this story hasn't got the attention it deserves - and I still stand by that. This is still the only fic that I've ever reviewed every chapter for.
I will definitely keep it on my alerts and look forward to any updates if you feel so inclined.
Congratulations and well done!

I meant to review this last week but got sidetracked. I can't miss a chapter now, so close to the end, lol.
I had a feeling Nennia and Thranduil would get involved when I read their interraction in the other chapter. Yep, that's what Thrandy needs - a good, strong woman who won't mind giving him what for. Let's face it, he really needs a good hiding a lot of the times, lol!
It's funny to see the love/hate relationship between Thorin and Thrandy now - they've certainly come a long way.

I'm gonna pull a Peter Jackson and say you should do one more chapter for luck! I don't know if you've ever done an anniversary chapter. Maybe have it be Thorin and Tauriel's anniversary and they want to spend it alone but everyone keeps butting in (maybe even a surprise party is involved)! Just an idea :)
| LadyDunla chapter 69 . 1/27
That was one beautiful fic and very impressive, and fits in very nicely with what is shown in DoS. I suppose that Thranduil, being the vain elf that he is, would really want to cover that scar up and tell it to no one who didn't need to know. It also explains why he was always so rude to Tagrith; people really don't like to be reminded of their own flaws, but it's brave that he revealed his scars all the same. Of course, Nennia forced him into telling, but it's good that he put his relationship with her before his looks. He really has changed. Like Tauriel aid, he's really turning into quite a lovely person. He isn't quite there yet, but he's well on his way and it's the thought that counts, right?
It really was a lovely story. I've really enjoyed your saga and wow, it has indeed gotten quite long, but you'll hear no complaints from me. If you ever get the inspiration to write more, I'd like that very much. As it is, a massive thank you for all the hard work that must have gone into this. Thank you!

So Valinor has it's own Harvey Dent...and what a yummy dent. :D a truly great chpt. i hope you will write more about your characters. They are just so funny and loveable that it is hard to part with them. Anyways, you left us with an opening here, so there'' still hope. Thank you for taking us for this journey.
