Reviews for Three's The Charm |

Mellimon chapter 5 . 8/9/2012 You should break the mold! You should put them in different houses and still have them study and still be the trio or something. To promote house unity and basically prepare all the students of what is to come. You don't have to do any of that though it's your choice it's just my two cents is all. |
NonyMouse chapter 5 . 8/9/2012 I think as their 17/18 year old selves, the trio could honestly fit perfectly well in any house, except Ravenclaw for Ron and Harry, since pursuit of knowledge was never a primary drive for either of them. They're incredibly brave and justice oriented, and they do sometimes rush into things (Gryffindor), they are extremely loyal and firmly against prejudice (Hufflepuff), and as you said, they'll need a lot of cunning to pull this off, plus changing the future is quite an ambitious undertaking (Slytherin). I've also always thought that Ron shows a lot of Hufflepuff loyalty, because he always came back to Harry and Hermione in spite of his self-confidence and jealousy issues. They could aim to end up in different houses and sow inter house unity that way, which could help a lot during the war. I like how you're writing this story, and I can't wait till the trio start communicating and then meet up at Hogwarts. It'll certainly be interesting. The one criticism I have is actually for the previous chapter, where you described the clothing that wizard children wear. The way you described it sort of completely stopped the flow of the story for a paragraph or so of clothing description. You didn't need to describe the whole outfits, first, and you could have woven it better into the story if, for example, you had Harry notice some kids wearing it and pointing out just a few differences between wizard wear and muggle wear in a few sentences mixed into the regular plot (ie, As Harry passed the *insert shop*, he noticed a crowd of obviously pureblood students wearing the tunics wizard children often wore instead of tshirts, *moving on with plot*). It may not paint an exacting picture of the really cool outfits you've come up with in great detail, but sometimes leaving details sparse and letting the reader fill in little details for themselves from their own imaginations can make your writing more interesting and make it flow more smoothly. Nightwing 509 chapter 3 . 8/9/2012 I like the way you had the Trio go back in time. Please update soon. |
Katzztar chapter 5 . 8/9/2012 "There have been some fics where Harry was put in two Houses or all four ..." Please PLEASE do NOT do that! It would ruin it since its too unbelieavble. All three going back in time, yeah I can handle it, but a person being sorted into more than one house is NOT believable. Someone can have traits of several houses, but only be sorted into the house whose trait is strongest. Or in case two houses have same level of triats, the kids choice is taken into account. The house is supose to be a family, points given or taken according to house, teams are made according to house. All four houses compete in house cup and quidicth cup. Put one kid into two houses, then you're setting yourself up for mistakes and failures. How will points be given/taken if they are in two houses...its impossible as it defeats the point system. If the person gets points, does it go to both houses? Then the two houses are not going to like the person since a different house got points too. How about the games? Again, many kids of one house will say the ones that belong to two houses are not 'real members' of their house. imagine Seamus Harry's not a real Gryffindor! Sure we got points when Snape gave him 10 points, but thats only because the Snakes got 10 points too! Who ever heard of someone belonging to two houses?" Theo Nott Harry's not a real Slytherin! He's playing on the Gryffindor team against us! Plesase do not go that route, I like the story but cannot see how it could work if someone gets sorted into two houses. - On a different note- Wanting to change things is pretty Gryffindorish thing to to as well as Slytherin. Yes, it takes cunning to do all they did but it also takes courage to stick to it, knowledge to know what to do and loyalty to stick together to see it get done. So really they have traits of all three houses. It depends on what is the strongest trait. I do not thing cunning is the top trait, yeah they got it but their courage and loyalty to each other is stronger. Ron doesn't have the same level of cunning as the others, Hermione has more knowledge than the others. But she had that when they first were sorted and the hat though her courage was stronger than her knowledge. I'd say the two best houses that fit them is Griffindor and Hufflepuff. Their courage and loyalty to each other defined them throughout the series. Even when Ron was childish and had his moments of self-doubt in books 4 & 7, loyalty brought him back a little wiser than before and had Harry & Hermione forgive him. |

Elless chapter 4 . 8/1/2012 Quite honestly, I think the tunics are weird; JKR herself said that during holidays, most teens didn't have a problem wearing Muggle clothes. It was the adults that were confused by them. Sorry, I'm not flaming or anything, I just tend to be a bit blunt, especially in writing. As for Draco, I think you should havw Harry say something that might make Draco rethink his position. Not anything drastic or sudden, but something that might make him consider sonething from a different point of view. Also, are you going to update your Truth and Lies story? I really like it it's really unique! |
