And this "I want you to...her face bloodless: capitulation and despair. He tastes victory.." Spot on description and compare that to your passages describing Richard's awareness that Matthew is his rival and he can't begin to compete. He is playing a losing game.

Then "is this is Crawley?Are the gloves off at last?" I would have loved that in canon.

Lavinia forcing herself to take the whole of the betrayal in. You'd want to know wouldn't you? How heartbreaking when she realizes her compromise of his honor and duty instead of his love. Mary will always have it.

And so much more. Will there be more?
