Being a New Yorker living in South Carolina, I completely understand how she feels. And yes, WE are the ones with the accent. After living here for 18 years, I'm still made fun of my New Yorkese. :)

I also feel her excitement of being alone a long time and meeting that man that lights you up on the inside. It's unexpected and exciting and confusing...but finally makes you feel alive after living in the dark for so long. My Danny did that for me. I only had him for 2 years before he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away 3 months later. :( This story is relatable.
