Im really looking forward to the brothers training together for Raditz it must be like a dream come true after all he waited over 20 years to pick up his brother. I also like the subtle hints that the Shy Launch might have a crush on Raditz. Now he has a chance to do so I was wondering if you are gonna dive a bit into Raditz's past and about Bardock is it possible your gonna have Goku become curious about his heritage because that was one thing lacking in the original series. Anyways keep up the good work and look forward to the next chapter.

I'm pleased to see that you are expanding the story in a way that makes sense. I was a little surprised that Kami didn't comment on Raditz being evil. But you're definitely making Raditz a more complete character.

Really interested to see how the Saiyans fighting together can boost their strength!

I'm enjoying this a lot. Your writing abilities keep improving and you do a good job of thinking through the possibilities. I also think that your reasoning is sound, such as the fact that Piccolo was able to increase his strength to 1800. You do a good job to using dialogue to make the transition of Raditz from hardened bad-guy into reluctant-somewhat-ally.

Tien's best side really came through when he sacrificed himself for Raditz, and I'm glad to see that he may have a more important role in upcoming battles (Though I wonder if he will be able to make King Kai laugh in order to receive training). It is easy for us all to accept Piccolo's reformation because it was so early in DBZ and we're all used to it, but he could have just as easily stayed a bad guy or been killed and forgotten if things went differently. I wonder how it will effect him not spending that year with Gohan, if he even survives.

Also, I enjoyed how you showed us that moment inside Raditz' head, the flashback to Saiyans calling him weak, etc. That was good writing. Good luck with continuing your story.

i have to disagree with the power level you stated for goku
in dbz canon he was 330 with weighted clothes and 440 without them.
with piccolo's being 320 and 430, only 10 less.

while i agree that lack of training would have made goku weaker (as shown later with gohan) so thinking about it the 416 could make sense then.

Nice job with this chapter. Grammar is, to my knowledge, flawless, which is something you don't see in a lot of fanfics. I hope Tien's sacrifice to Raditz foreshadows him turning good and training his brother and nephew. I also believe that despite the fact that Raditz is the MAIN CHARACTER's brother, Toriyama just wrote him off to the side and wasted a lot of potential. Hopefully Raditz will fight for the Z-fighters soon and they'll be able to take on Vegeta and Nappa D

Huh. I thought this would be Piccolo-centric, but with Raditz alive and shown positively, I guess not. So, will Tenshinhan learn Kaioken? Because that would be awesome.

this story is nice to read, although at first i was alittle disapointed that piccolo was stronger then raditz.
the above 1000 power level seemed reasonable for that time period. but the 1800 power level is a big increase for piccolo.
so goku is without weighted clothes still at 440. well he's useless then compared to picollo.

Hey! really nice! i like the new chapter a lot.

just one thing, if you have raditz becoming a sorta good guy (vegeta on namek and after namek style) take it slow with that. have raditz only sorta "obey" to Goku's "no killing" rules due to family ties and the unfamiliarity to being saved for no better reason than "you're my brother". to raditz, strength and being known as powerful and ruthless should be everything at this point.

if i would write this, id probably keep goku unsure if raditz really reformed into a sorta good guy until vegeta and nappa finally come to earth and raditz openly opposes the two.

but its your story. i will read it no matter what happens :D its just that often potentially awesome fan fics get really dumb because of the writers either writing known characters as completely different than what we know them as for no reason (Goku being smarter than bulma, Vegeta being a super good guy that lectures Goku on how to do good in the universe and the likes) or writers rushing certain plot points to much because they want to get to the "finish line" of that plot element. example "rar im raditz im super evil. oh you saved me. this never happened before. i love you brother. ill be a hero now. now lets get on with this training so we can stop the bad guys".
youre probably going to keep focus on piccolo, but if i could make a request, do at least one chapter (one of the very next) about raditz's point of view in adjusting to things like friendship, friendly nonharmful jokes, family life of his brother, meeting his nephew, who unconditionally loves him because goku told him that raditz is his uncle and a good guy. maybe even do two of those chapters, with piccolos story continuing in another chapter in between. no offense if you planned that all along anyway :D

Spotted a link to this on the latest page of DBM, and decided to check it out on a whim. Welp, here goes.

A timeline where Raditz DOESN'T die right off the bat? Neat. Always thought it was kind of strange that the writers bring such blatant attention to his and Goku's relation to each other, then just went and killed him off for real so quickly.

But yeah, looking at the other reviews, there isn't really a whole lot of feedback I can give that isn't completely redundant by this point. The implications of Tien kicking the bucket make for a pretty intriguing twist, not to mention Goku actually teaming up with Raditz instead of Piccolo. Am I sensing an upcoming crisis of faith on Raditz' part? Might just be wishful thinking, but meh, guess we'll find out soon enough.

All in all, this is actually very well written - clean, yet not overly convoluted in its descriptions or anything like that. Lookin' forward to the next installment already.

Really enjoying this, Raditz was one of the most wasted potential characters in the real series, will be interesting to see how things could have been.

Looks like Raditz will replace Piccolo Jr's canon role, but is Tien going to get King Kai's training instead of Goku? Would make him much more useful later with the addition of kaioken.

Great chapter! Tien stepping in front of Raditz was certainly a surprise. It just figures that Vegeta would be listening in.

I wanted to wait until after this scene to give my first real review.

You're doing a great job with this story; I'm really interested to see where it goes from here. You are good at explaining the characters' motivations and thoughts without resorting to endless exposition, so that's good. Your fight scenes are simple and straightforward; I didn't have any trouble visualizing the action.

The events seem to depend significantly on latent character strength and varying strength - a welcome departure from the normal power-levels-always-determine-a-battle approach so common in fanfics.

I'm curious to know how Goku will level up without King Kai's training. Kaioken was one of his most important abilities; without it, I'm not sure he can stand up to Vegeta even with his brother's help. It will be interesting to see if the path taken by this Raditz and this Goku are similar to the path from DBM's U13.
