Reviews for Inquisitor Carrow and the GodEmperorless Heathens |
---|
![]() ![]() ![]() This is my third time reading through this series. i had forgotten how entertaining it is. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Just started rereading this story years after reading it initially. I have got to say I still love it. I love how Carrow act realistically for one who comes from the Imperium and how his impact on the wizarding world is well-portrayed. You have also got to love the mix of comedy, action and fear that Carrow illicits. So just wanted to thank you for writing a really fun series. |
![]() ![]() ![]() If I were in hermoines position I would have simply said carrow is a giant and they can't say anything either way. Have they ever certainly not. It would added some level of comedy to this utterly disappointing story. |
![]() ![]() ![]() this is hilarious |
![]() ![]() ![]() I was recently in the process of recommending this series to someone when I realized that my recommendation could also serve as a review, so here it is. (The person was asking for fics that recapture the magic of canon on a similar feeling timescale/wordcount ratio) "It's wildly different from Canon and simultaneously much darker and much funnier, but there is Warhammer 40k crossover series called the [Inquisitor Carrow Series]( s/8400788/1/) by [littlewhitecat]( u/2085009/) that does what you're looking for to a T. As a crossover, it takes both source materials very seriously and draws its humor from the inherent absurdity in both, amplified by their interactions, and in doing so it actually manages to explore the world of HP extraordinarily well. It's all set in the world and time of HP, so you don't need to know anything about 40k going in, but it draws pretty much all of its conflict and plot from the introduction of the 40k elements so none of it predictable or stale. The characters have meaningful development and subplots, the main plots are coherent and interesting, the worldbuilding takes what JKR started with and builds on it in a very natural and organic way that is also absolutely not what she intended, as it incorporates themes from both source material without feeling alien. And, best of all, by contrasting the world of HP with the absurdity of 40k, the absurdity of HP is allowed to thrive in its whimsy without the overall tone suffering. It retains the book 1 magic all the way through and it feels like a narrative and thematic objective to protect that whimsy, all while the 40k elements serve to contrast it and highlight how valuable it is. It makes the world of HP feel joyful even as it extrapolates upon its darkest aspects in a way that feels real. In all honesty, its one of the absolute best fanfic series I've ever read. Completely unashamed and all in on its premise, upon which it delivers tenfold." The odd formatting is because it was on Reddit and I just copy/pasted to here, I just wanted to make sure you knew that I appreciate all the effort you've put into this series. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent. |
![]() ![]() In this chapter you stated that Carrow "demanded to be placed in power armor". If he can bully the author to get what he wants, it goes to show how the other characters interactions will go. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I wish there was more. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I had forgotten how amazing these stories were. I'll go on yet another reading spree on these. simply amazing! I love these! I'll take a look at your newest work as well. you've found a brilliant balance with Inquisitor Carrow between humor and horror which I've never found anywhere else before. also Tim is great :p I'd love some mini series of his daily life, just super small one shots or something with prompt list or something xD you just do these characters so much justice and I always just come back to these. simply amazing series! |
![]() ![]() ![]() i was enjoying op harry. that not made me not wanna read anymore. i hate when they make one chacther op they feel they have to make everyone op. harry is 300 yrs old from a crazy demon infested future. he shouldnt even need to try and he should still win |
![]() ![]() ![]() THRONE. Every time I reread this fic, the thing that stands out constantly is how *badly* I wish Carrow had just been an *Inquisitor,* not a space marine inquisitor. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I grinned so hard during some chapters that my jaw aches, this story is amazing and definitely worth reading again and again in the future |
![]() ![]() Are you ****ing kidding me? He opened the entryway to the chamber, angry at being stupid and losing to the giant snake... and then RAN AWAY?! **** you! Harry's not a ****ing coward! He also has superpowered armor! **** you! I knew I shouldn't have trusted you to do what was right with this story. That snake should be dead and Ginny saved! But NOOOOO, you're a ****ing ass**** and IGNORED IT ALL for the stupid plot! |
![]() ![]() Change the wizarding war into a much larger event? Why? Wasn't it big enough and daunting enough for you? How arrogant that you think because you gave Harry OPness that you have to give Voldemort OPness too, even though Voldemort is ALREADY OP. (shakes head) Don't waste time by ruining a good thing. Play it out with an OP harr and see how it goes. Changing things for change's sake is NOT the way to write a good story. |
![]() ![]() Oh, **** off with the ****ing unnecessary cliffhanger on the very first goddamn chapter! You can suck my hairy balls! Dig your tongue right in there and tell me what my taint tastes like! |
