Wonderful story. I always like Hayes, wished he hadn't died. He had a unit to run and disipline and respect were something that had to be maintained or lives could be lost. Chang did grate my nerves a bit, and you have found an interesting way to explain it. I must say, if I were in Hayes' shoes - I would have done more than rip off Chang's stripes - but then I would have been going to the brig. Great story!
