I think in this instance, I'd actually prefer the "smut" to wait a while. A long while. I have to admit, I'm rather disturbed by chapters 3 and 4. My first concern is John's massive invasion of Carter's privacy, that is just borderline creepy. Watching her life does not give him a place in it. No woman wants a bodyguard in place as a boyfriend. And the kind of care and concern he's displaying is only a few steps away from control. Look how he forced her into a confrontation at the end of the night. And I can't believe he would think she would be ready to start anything with him after the disastrous night she just had with Bill. My other concern is that there is a serious problem in the power dynamic between them. At the moment, John has the upper hand and he is taking advantage of it. I really hope at some point you have Carter find out about John's stalking of her and that there are serious consequences for John. However much he cares about her, its not acceptable. He's abusing his position. And he came very close to outright manipulating her. On a more upbeat note, while I obviously have issues with the content, I can't fault the form. These chapters are very well written and really capture the inner turmoil of the characters. I'm just hoping you don't gloss over John's stalker habits and disregard for boundaries in order to give them their happy ending.

Wow. Can you say slow burn? What a build up. Starting off with two incredibly sexually frustrated people, who wanted to be with each other, but tried to find solace instead in the arms (or beds) of others. And not finding any fulfillment in it. They eventually find their way to each other, getting their heart's desire, and when they do, we get the incredible re-make of The Towering Imferno. :D
I bow to you, Crescendo Master. Awesome.
Now, if you could find it in your heart to finish this story, this could be a fitting tribute to this duo. ;)
