AHA! I read this story a long time ago and I totally forgot what it was called. And since the 2nd movie came out and the AstridxHiccup fanfictions have come pouring in again I ended up resorting to Googling some of the details I remembered to find it. On the bright side it took me like 3 minutes to find it through Google...the downside is I feel kind of bad since what led me to finding it was the random memory of the fact that you made Astrid's father a cripple.

it's been so long since this was created but it is so amazing. I absolutely adore this fanfic. It's one of my favorites. This fanfic just leaves me with fuzzy feelings and just everything in this is perfect.

I thought you didn't want to do a retelling? THE changes you made were so minor, it was super boring. Please work on this. You cannot pass a retelling of the movie off as your own story. You didn't even changed most off the dialouge. WHY SO MUCH ANGST? Hiccup battles shitty situations with sarcasm and witty humor not by drowning in self pity.

Also I think having toothless be so accepting of Astrid even though she has a weapon takes away from his character and degrades him to nothing more than a pet (trusting blindly isn't exactly his thing).

Overall this wasn't bad, but it could have done with a little more originality...

I don't know how this doesn't have more reviews. I've loved this fandom for years, and this is still one of my all time favorite stories. Thank you so much for your writing!

Although I wasn't too drawn in by the opening chapters, this fic got much better as it went along, and I was definitely enjoying it soon enough. My favorite line was the one where Astrid relaxes and realizes that she doesn't have to be a tough Viking around Hiccup.

I also love that even though this was a HiccStrid fic, Toothless was still just as important to him as Astrid, and that Tooth didn't keep getting kicked offscreen just so that Hiccup & Astrid could be alone together.

My only real disappointment is that I think it would have been interesting to see what young Hiccup & Astrid's married life is like now that they're mutually in love and the whole Red Death mess is over. Is there's any chance you'd ever write even a one-shot or something about how they get along after the end of this fic?
